Nice and big restaurant with friendly staff. Also prepared for hosting children. Lot of local people, huge amount of food in average quality. Good price/value.

We traveled by car northboud from Croatia to Belgium and got really hungry approaching Salzburg. We were absolutely craving for some "echt" Austrian food and were laughing about the poor food choices at the last rest area before the German border driving northbound. Thankfully - there are smart phones and tripadvisor app that quickly helped us find Gruenauer Hof. Only... More

We went there one night in March 2013. The restaurant itself is huge and can feel too big, but the food and the service was really good.

We have been here on a number of occassions over a number of years - and have never been disappointed. Good Austrian cooking complemented by Austrian wine and beer. The 20 minute taxi journey from Salzburg was well worth it - yet again. The variety of dining areas are all in attractive traditional design with area outside in summer.

We asked our waiter to recommend a dish and we got the meat platter for 2. It was huge and so delicious! Certainly 4 could have eaten and still had some left. The meat was tender and tasty, the vegetables were also. We did not bother touching the fries as there was just too much else to pick from. Great... More

Great place, big terrace. You can sit outside with goodvweather. Nice place for kids with a big playground next door! The food is real Austrian and good, our kids loved the wiener schnitzel from turkey meat. The desserts are big, just like the weizener beer! Really good place to relax.

My wife I stayed at the Grunauer Hof for 2 days and loved it. The food in the restaurant was hearty, largely dished and wonderful.

I stayed in Wals only 2 nights and taken to Grunauer Hof by a friend (Toto) who has been living there for the last 7-8 years. It was around 9.30 pm when we arrived there (from Munich) and it was already the closing time of the kitchen, but thanks to Toto, he had previously convinced the chef to make an... More
