The Resturant was filled up very quickly around dinner time. One of the only two options. We were staying at the b&b at the Brier island. Walked to the ferry and had dinner. Walked back on to the ferry and walked home. The b&b made a dinner reservations for us. Was skeptical to begin with about the idea however realized... More

After 10 years of trying to find the time for the drive and ferry ride between Bear River and Freeport, we finally dedicated an afternoon and evening around our reservation for supper at Lavena's Catch. The special, a pairing of fresh pan fried haddock with Asian style ribs, was creative and delicious, service was friendly and efficient. It is a... More

What a special place! Fabulous view, with the possibility of catching sight of dolphins or whales, generous portions of fresh delicious sea food and the meeting place for visitors and locals. As it says on the sign - good food and good conversation.

Located just east of Westport across the channel, this bright yellow restaurant overlooks the ferry. A very helpful attendant at the Digby Visitors’ Center told me about it and reserved a table for me. Although the ferry arrived from Brier Island at 4:45, fifteen minutes before opening time, early arrivals were seated and able to order coffee, soda, or a... More

This was not my first visit to Lavena's, but it was my last! I had recommended this establishment to many tourists, but no more. The waitress was exceptionally rude, this is not a reflection on their food, rather on their staff. We were a party of Seven, with a reservation, from the moment we walked in we were confronted with... More

To the readers of this post please note: one member of this party was visably intoxicated and immediately staggered to the bar and demanded a beer. The lady who reserved the table appologized to the bar manager/server as she was walking into the building knowing his state. Our policy is 'no service if clearly intoxicated' but we felt bad for... The seafood chowder was amazing. Lots of seafood. The digby scallops were so good, I will never order scallops anywhere else as they don't compare. Staff were efficient and polite. Go, you won't be sorry.

The best chowder I have ever had. So fresh and delicious. Was recommended by someone and was not disappointed in the least. I would recommend eating here to anyone I know.

Lavenas was recommended to us so we thought we would try it. All I can say is wow!! We were treated so well. We arrived early for our reservation so ordered drinks and they were served to us out on the deck. They came and told us when our table was ready and told us not to rush. We each... More

The food is fresh and carefully prepared. Start with beverage of your choice and look at the board over the bar for great drink ideas. Try the Solomon Gundy for a great appetizer and local treat. The seafood (my favorite is their haddock) is unbeatable. And Aunt Heathers deserts are crazy good: suggest you try the Peanut Butter pie or... More
