Haven't been to The market place since it was refurbished years ago. I was impressed with the service and the quality of the food. Of course it's not cheap but if you want food and service of this quality it's not going to be. We had a nice table and the two waiters were excellent.

Went here on a Saturday night in October, we were still celebrating wifes birthday at start of month, youngest son came home, so booked a table and were lucky to get in. Lovely atmosphere at The Market Place, very busy, even for a saturday night but it was not uncomfortable. Staff managed to be efficient and the food was extremely... More

I have been meaning to write a review of this place for some while now having eaten there a few times including on two Christmas Days. Last Sunday I went for lunch with my wife and we were reminded of just how good this restaurant really is. The food was superb and the service impeccable, it has an ambience all... More

Was a meal to celebrate my partners birthday and we are glad we booked the Market Place. This was my second visit but our first as a couple. Food was exceptional and the atmosphere great. My husband and I went for Sunday lunch at the Market Place. We were impressed with the atmosphere which was warm and welcoming. The menu was fairly limited, but I fancied everything on offer, so did not feel that choice was lacking. We shared the scallops to start and then I had the pork belly and my husband had the... More

At the moment the Market Place is advertising its forthcoming Fawlty Towers' evening. You'd think they wouldn't bother. Why pay actors to make a mess of a meal when they're more than capable of doing it themselves? My wife and I both returned our starters; the sauce for her mushroom dish was inedible gloopy and cold, whilst mine was an... More

Our third visit to this lovely restaurant. We came to celebrate my Mum's birthday. The staff were charming and efficient in serving us. We tried salmon gravadlax, mushrooms on brioche, pork tenderloin and duck confit. A few sampled fruit crumble and, bread and butter pudding. All delicious. Happy to recommend this restaurant and will definitely be visiting again.
