Lovely pub/restaurant with genuine home made food - a real Gem

This is an absolutely lovely traditional country pub and we had the unexpected pleasure of dining in it last week. It really is a little Gem and it is one to add to our elite list of special places to dine. Firstly, we were given a big warm and friendly welcome, and I couldn’t believe how nice... read more

We had this place recommended by a colleague and it didn't disappoint! The staff were supremely friendly and helpful. We popped in for lunch, and fortunately there's a table in the corner where you are allowed to have your dog too! The food offered comes from the standard fare plus a Specials menu and some 'Foxy desserts'. However it didn't... More

We quite often visit the Red Fox for lunch, traveling approx. 13 miles to get to it, from Barry. There is always a warm welcome from Richard (landlord) or George (landlady), and we are always made to feel at home. The food is always good, and excellent portion sizes. They have daily specials on a blackboard or a choice from... More

On holiday in July we came across this delightful pub oozing with character. The staff were great, very friendly and although we had never been there before we were made to feel welcome. The menu was extensive with a good varied choice. I enjoyed the turkey and leek pie with its fresh vegetables and my husband liked the thai curry.Wow! Huge... More

Excellent food served up quickly in this pub with a fantastic ambience. A hidden gem in the Vale. Lovely warm welcome from the beautiful, bubbly, vivacious landlady who made us feel extreemly welcome. I can not fault the food that was absolutely delicious, fresh and represented very good value for money. Very good portion sizes that did not disappoint. I... More

Although not my local I often pop into the Red Fox for a quick pint. Recently had two Sunday Lunches here and fact we returned says it all. Food is excellent and welcome is always warm whether on my own or with family. Only criticism is the interior branch design in bar lounge area as my wife now wishes me... More

Having sampled almost everywhere in Cardiff, we wanted to find a diamond in the rough. Somewhere neither of us (myself and 2 friends) had been. This restaurant was given a great rating and was "out in the sticks" enough for us as well. Staff very friendly, menu was good, albeit a Sunday but a roast is what I was after.... More

I'm fussy about food but I do love the food here. The service is always friendly too and the entertainment evenings are fab. It's only a couple of minutes from the main road. Very traditional with a lovely atmosphere.
