Description: TOPES restaurant is a modern British restaurant centrally located in...
TOPES restaurant is a modern British restaurant centrally located in Rochester High Street in Kent and has been awarded two AA rosettes. Chris Small, head chef and co-owner, has created several different menus, including a special set price lunch (L15 for 2 courses and coffee) and mid-week evening menu (3 courses for L20.50). In addition, there is an a la carte menu for Friday and Sunday evenings and traditional roasts on Sunday. All ingredients are bought in fresh on a daily basis from local suppliers and the menus reflect seasonal produce. The restaurant is set in a 15th, 16th and 17th Century building and many of the original features remain. However, the restaurant has a modern feel to it to reflect the modern style of dishes on offer.

Booked this restaurant for my wife's birthday based on recommendations on TripAdvisor and was not dissapointed. This quaint Dickensian restaurant offers a variety of menus throughout the day. We took advantage of the three courses for £25 evening menu and enjoyed food of high quality served by a first class group of waitresses who were attentive yet not overbearing. The... More

Once again, we had an absolutely wonderful meal (mid-week, although every time sitting is excellent) at Topes (our favourite restaurant in Rochester). Food, wine and service were superb and of excellent value! Michael and Shiralee Keane

My husband and I ate at Topes during the weekend and had a beautifully tasting meal. The food was cooked to perfection and all served friendly and professional. The restaurant had a classy and friendly atmosphere. A certain recommendation for anyone requiring fine tasking food.

I have been to Topes a number of times and have always been impressed by the food and service provided. However on Friday I was disappointed with the level of service received, in particular from the owner. She was on times rude! There was also an inordinate amount of time between our starters and mains, I can only hope that... More

We visited over Easter weekend for the lunch time menu which was delicious with a lovely selection to choose from. The atmosphere and service were also great. A really nice way to spend and afternoon :)

The food standard was high, and the lunch time set menu was very reasonable. It looked beautiful and tasted like someone has put effort in, while cooking it in the kitchen. They even changed my table to make me more comfortable (I'm a little large as pregnant), which was very kind.

A lovely meal in an interesting building with much character and a Dickens connection (as have most places in Rochester). Service was very good with friendly and welcoming staff. The food was delicious, well prepared and beautifully presented. Wild garlic, fresh pea and fennel soup (garlic freshly picked locally) is to be highly recommended. The only thing that disappointed was... More

I had a great meal here with a good friend! She started with the beef cheek, and it was so tender! I had a lovely beetroot, feta and walnut salad, it was very tasty and fresh. I had duck for my main course, and it was perfectly cooked and delicious. We were too full for desserts (as they give you... More
