Description: TOPES restaurant is a modern British restaurant centrally located in...
TOPES restaurant is a modern British restaurant centrally located in Rochester High Street in Kent and has been awarded two AA rosettes. Chris Small, head chef and co-owner, has created several different menus, including a special set price lunch (L16 for 2 courses and coffee) and mid-week evening menu (3 courses for L25). In addition, there is an a la carte menu for Friday and Sunday evenings and traditional roasts on Sunday. All ingredients are bought in fresh on a daily basis from local suppliers and the menus reflect seasonal produce. The restaurant is set in a 15th, 16th and 17th Century building and many of the original features remain. However, the restaurant has a modern feel to it to reflect the modern style of dishes on offer.

Food and service to be proud of

This was our second time to Topes. The first time we left thinking this was some of the best tasting and most beautifully presented food my partner and I had ever tasted. The second time was no different, absolutely brilliant from first course to last. The midweek 2/3 course menu is so very... read more

Been many times but only on a Sunday. Took friends on Saturday evening, the food like the staff was cold and there was no apology. We moved from upstairs as it was mega hot, they took us downstairs and placed us by an open fire! Wouldn't go again on a Saturday evening they need to concentrate of the food rather... More

Three of us enjoyed a memorable meal at Topes. Unusual, modern menu, super presentation and (most important) great tastes. Efficient service, quaint old building in the middle of historic Rochester.

My son and I brought my husband here for his birthday again. We still have difficulty choosing what to have as everything is good. The food is presented so well that it looks like a small neat serving but I always have difficulty leaving room for s dessert! Yes it is quite pricy (I looked at other comments) but you... More

This is a fantastic restaurant which left a great impression the minute we entered the door. Staff were attentive, courteous and patient with us when going through the menu. They were very friendly. The food was amazing, rich, filling and creative. Would definitely recommend.

First time visit after hearing good things. On arrival taken upstairs which initially was a worry as this at other establishments can mean the unattractive overflow but here was a small cosy candle lit room with a nice ambience. White tablecloths is always a good sign and waiting staff were uniformed. The wine list had a very nice house champagne... More

We decided to try Topes after finding it in a table top leaflet of the best places to eat in Kent. As it was also my birthday we booked a table for lunch. We were met by friendly, helpful staff and shown our table. We ordered the same thing for both courses with side dishes of vegetables with the main... More
