Just visiting Rochester for the weekend, found Topes just strolling down the high street, the menu looked good so we went in and got a table, had an excellent meal, great service, friendly welcoming staff, so we booked for the following night as well (which turned out to be a wise move as it was then fully booked). So if... More

Friends who are regular customers suggested that we ate at Topes. Having read reviews on Trip Advisor and thoroughly enjoying our food and the Topes experience, I can only imagine that the bad reviews were for a different restaurant. The lunch menu was well balanced with something for everyone and the portions, whilst not huge, were just right: the last... More

What a place, okay doesn't look posh inside and I wondered how it rated number 3 of all the restaurants in Rochester. It soon became clear when I was going through the menu. My wife and I were here for a spot of lunch, I had the leg of lamb with the cumin kebab. I could not fault it a... More

We only had coffee. My Americano was good, but my husband found the double espresso 'Good - but not as good as you find in Italy' - but then, he says that EVERY time in England! The staff were lovely, and the place was most attractive, and soon filled up with lunchers. We sat outside under big umbrellas - a... More

I never take the time to leave reviews, but after visiting Topes, I am genuinely confused as how to how anyone could leave a bad review about this restaurant. Visited with my family and it is just superb. Lovely, cosy feel to the restaurant- in a beautiful, historic building completely in keeping with Rochester's style. The attentiveness and care the... Simply an excellent Sunday lunch at a reasonable price. Will definitely return!! The menu is extensive and filled with high quality meals. Wine list competitively priced. Excellent service but suitably relaxed.

Food excellent, staff attentive and friendly, little thing like noting who ordered what. Not one bad thing to say. Highly recommended.
