Visited with friends on a Saturday night, having booked a table. The pub is looking really good and we thoroughly enjoyed the food we had and the beer. However the pub was let down by the two young ladies covering the bar and service to the tables. They just seemed, to us, just a little too surly when taking orders... More

This is a tiny pub in a great location. It was refurbed last year, it also has a small garden to the rear. We enjoyed our meal here. There was a decent choice, I had crispy duck to start followed steak and ale pie. Portions were generous and the pie was particularly tasty. The others had sirloin steak and mutton... More

Have been to this Pub for lunch several times before for a light lunch. the previous Landlord had always made us welcome. When visiting today it was made quite clear that our custom was not wanted. We only wanted baguettes (£7.95 each, so hardly cheap) or Jacket potatoes, we were told that this would take at least 45 minutes to... More

In response to your review following your visit on sun 9/11/14 on arrival you were informed there was currently a 45 min wait for food for people who hadn't booked, however you were found a table immediately so you could sit and enjoy your coffees, we managed to find a slot for you within 15 min to which you declined.... A lovely little pub close to the riverfront without river views but a pleasant garden with the pub on a pebbled street. Lots of character with a cosy environment. The service was lovely and enjoyable with very good service although it would be nice to see the staff in traditional waitress dress as opposed to a pair of jeans and... More

While actually visiting Rochester Castle, the people there recommended we go to Upnor Castle - about a 10 minute drive apart. They also recommended The Tudor Rose pub to grab some lunch and an ale! Sounded excellent to us, so we drove over to Upnor. This pub is right next door to the castle, which is overlooking the river. This... More

Stopped here on a Monday lunchtime before visiting Upnor Castle next door. We were very well looked after by Elise and enjoyed Shepherd Neame Late Red, a butchers platter and Thai green curry. The food and beer were delicious and good value.
