Good Ale and Food

Ate here whilst staying nearby on business. Nice pub with a good selection of ales, I happily had Sharp's Atlantic Pale Ale. Staff also friendly. I also had the Fishpond burger which was very nice. It was served on a hot piece of slate, a plate may have been easier. Overall well recommend.

We went to this pub after visiting the tramway museum. There was a good choice of food. We only had sandwiches as we were eating in the evening. The beef sandwiches were huge and I shared with my husband. My daughter in law had to send hers back as it was almost raw and she couldn't cut through it. They... More

We are with friends, a group of 8 adults & 1 toddler. I had nachos with pulled pork, went for this as a lighter option - well the portion was huge & very tasty. My husband had a pie which was very nice. However two of our group were let down, a burger arrived about 10 minutes after the other... More

Visited on a very busy Sunday in Matlock Bath. Big pub which meant it was still easy for us to find a seat, despite the crowds. Lots of friendly staff behind the bar - served very quickly. Great range of beers on tap, including local ales. Good menu with plenty of vegetarian options. Food took a while to come out... More

We went here around 18 months ago and enjoyed lovely homemade burgers and was hoping for a similar experience today. It must have changed hands or has a different chef as the burger was the worst I have ever had! I've had better from a burger van! It was really burnt and blantantly shop-brought out of a freezer. The bread... More

After a long wait to order food we were greeted by a friendly waiter, Service for drinks was extremely poor in my opinion, The bar wasn't very busy at all however I was kept waiting whilst 6 people came up individually from the same table to order food (even though I was at the bar waiting before the first customer...
