Very tasty lunch!

We had just finished the wine tour and we stopped for lunch at the taverna. The food was very tasty and had great, strong flavors. I would recommend the lunch if you are doing the winery tour.

If you are in the vicinity of Montalcino, I recommend that you take the approximately 15 minute drive to the Abazzia de Sant'Antimo to listen to the gregorian monks chanting at this historic site. I suggest the 12:45 PM chants so that on your way back, on this same road, you continue on your heavenly trip with lunch at the... More

The only reason I stopped by was out of respect to the wine. Since the cantina was closed I decided to have a quick snack. It was the worst caprese salad I have ever had! This is obviously a place that relies on it's name and doesn't really value the true essence of Tuscan food. Over priced as well. Service... More

14 of us stopped for lunch during a day of vineyard tours in the Montalcino region, great atmosphere, food, service. Host and chef were excellent, we enjoyed a 2 hour luncheon we will remember for years.

As with other reviewers, we have been coming here for many years. But this time the service was poor, from a non-existent welcome from a disinterested waitress to a reluctance to give us a larger table when requested. Reason given - they were set for 4 and we were 2. But no one came to sit there anyway. Food pretty... More

It was lunchtime and we saw the sign to Taverna dei Barbi by the road, not knowing really what to expect. It was certainly a marvellous experience. The dishes were meticulously decorated, the meat was of a fabulous quality and very tasty, and the wine superb. From our experience, the "taverna" is not really a taverna, but a high standards... Need some lunch before doing a wine tasting well this is the perfect place to do it. The outside seating is very authentic for the surroundings and gives you the experience you are looking for in Brunello country. Enjoy the food and wine.

We love this restaurant. Been eating here for 10 years thru at least two managements. Always hits the mark for us. Don't understand why not rated higher. Vegetable flan. Beef with Brunello sauce. Pastas. Their excellent Brunello at good price. Take time for a tasting before eating.

We didn’t plan to go there (although it was highly recommended by the tourist guide books) until the hired car’s driver told us that it was one of the must-go restaurants in that area. The restaurant was surrounded by a lot of greens. A wine cellar located just next to the restaurant. Good food, good service and perfect environment. After... More
