We arrived in town after the true ristoranti had closed, and were looking for a place to get a late lunch. As we planned to visit La Fortezza, we headed in that direction. The caffe is nearby, and open, so we tried it. We were pleasantly surprised with a very tasty antipasto and tasting of 3 Brunello vintages. A very... More

we hadn't planned on lunch in Montalcino, When I asked an old man where we could find a decent ristorante - he led us to the Fortezza. We had bruscetta and caprese salad which was fine and price was ok. Nothing remarkable.

This restaurant has a beautiful outdoor area where you are overlooking the beautiful hills of Tuscany. Both the owner and the staff were friendly, helpful and extremely welcoming. We were able to try some different wines of the region and the staff explained each one, they were all delicious and the food was even better. It was a great experience... More

We ate lunch in the cafe portion one afternoon. The food was delicious and the service was wonderful. Great place to have a very relaxed lunch and hang out after to finish your beer. The Bruchetta was wonderful. And know that anything you order that has cheese will have a very generous helping!

My husband and I stopped in randomly after deciding last minute we wanted to see Montalcino after being in Montepulciano most of the day. We stopped in here and was greeted very pleasantly by the bartender/waiter. She let us taste 4 wines before choosing which one we wanted. She had a paper tag that she put on the stem so... More

Great on those long hot nights with a superb out door area and stunning views of the fortress and down the hill. A proper cafe/bar with the right prices.

While visiting the town of Montalcino my wife and I stopped in for lunch. We sat in their seating area across the street in the park. Wonderful views and just a great setting. Wine and traditional Tuscan sandwiches made for a nice lunch. The sandwich was so good I got another to go to enjoy later on in the day.

Everyone must stop at this fortezza, wonderful history, you feel like you step back in time. After walk around the hilly town, so quaint. The wine room is beautiful with so many to choose! We had lunch on the patio, wonderful light bite to eat!
