Cypress trees line the long path to Poggio Antico a mix of traditional Tuscan and comptemporary architectures overlooking some of the most splendid views of Southern Tuscany. I had met the host, years ago in Rome where he managed Pianeta Terra, a once favorite Rome jet setters hang out. A great restaurant matched by his present creature where superb Tuscan... More

We really wanted to visit this nice looking restaurant during our winery visit but it was closed with no sign of being reopened. Such a shame :(

A top notch ristorante, local cuisine to savour, accompanied with their flagship wine Poggio Antico riserva. Choose a evening sitting outside looking at the Tuscan hill and beyond. It will then dawn on you that the expression 'country, food and wine in harmonious concert' hold true

My wife and I visited Poggio Antico for lunch and then came back for a great dinner. Try the wine grown on the estate (the approach driveway is a long beautiful ride). We had appetizer, entree and dessert. Speaking with the chef at our table was a treat. Afterwards I visited the kitchen to thank the chef and found a... More

My wife and I visited Tuscany on our honeymoon in mid-March. Our hotel, Locanda dell'Amorosa, recommended the Poggio Antico vineyards to us when we expressed interests to visit wine estates in and around Montalcino. The hotel serves their wines and we were most impressed with their Brunello the night before at dinner. We are so glad they did. To be... More

My husband and I enjoyed the tasting menu, it was not very busy so the chef was out interacting with the customers. After chatting with us, he even added a couple dishes and made a substitution for my husband so we could try more!! The food was great, not a lot of food, but very good! We hope to go... More

Poggio Antico is some distance (10 minutes or so) outside the town of Montalcino in the lovely Tuscan countryside. One approaches it on a long cypress-lined drive from the main road. Given the name, it is a surprisingly modern place. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is very nice. We found the service a little slow, but this is... More

Was fortunate enough to visit for a second time in Sept. 11. (My first visit was back in 2005, I believe.) If this isn't one of the better restaurants in Tuscany, I don't know what is. Great typically Tuscan food with a modern twist. Even better, you can pair your meal with great wines by the glass from this top... More

We recently visted the Restarante di Poggio Antico and winery upon the recommendation of a highly rated neighboring winery which was fully booked. We really loved the IDEA of a winery tour followed by a tasting followed by a lovely meal. UNFORTUNATELY, the idea and the reality didn't align..... First we had a lot of difficulty finding the place. Our... More
