Great meals at Il Leccio

This is my second time in Montalcino and I made a point of going back to this place. We had lunch and then dinner the next night, both visits leaving us all marvelling at the variety of foods. Not a single dish was anything less than excellent. The appetisers, in particular, are fabulous, and if... read more

We drove to Sant’Angelo in Colle from Montalcino specifically to try this restaurant based on many positive recommendations on Trip Advisor and Lonely Planet. Honestly, the restaurant was okay but not great for the expensive prices. Maybe our expectations were too high? A review in Lonely Planet made it sound like the chef is walking around picking fresh vegetables and... More

Small place with good food. I thought mine was average but my wife felt was very good. Therefore, 3.5 out of 5. If you are a couple, be prepared to sit in one of three very close together tables in what feels like a hallway.

Our tour guide brought a group of 7 of us to this wonderful place for lunch. Facilities were rustic, but clean and well maintained. We had two courses. The first consistent of 7 different appetizers that were all wonderful. The second course was two different pasta dishes. Staff was pleasant and prompt. Would definitely go again if in the area.

If you are a tourist and are thinking of making a detour of 10 kilometers from Montalcino as we did, to eat in this restaurant think twice: As tourists I was given the worst part of the veal beef, with more than 70 percent of it pure unedible fat, while the Italian couple seated next to us got a lean... This was by far the biggest disappointment of our trip to Italy. Such great reviews, so we couldn't wait to go. The service was so rushed and harried, that I almost thought it was a joke. Then they totally forgot to make one of the four entrees that our table ordered, so that person in our party had to eat... More

We spent a week in Sienna and this was one of the recommended restaurants for the area. This restaurant lives up to its' trip advisor review. It was elegant, the food was good and the wine was quite nice. Be aware that it is animal friendly.

So to be totally honest, for various reasons, I normally try to steer clear of any restaurant that is ranked #1 on TA. But, for a slew of other various reasons, my husband and I ended up eating here, and since our experience was so great, and there may be others out there, who, like me, try to steer clear... More

I have dined at this restaurant several times over the past several years on my trips to Tuscany and I am never disappointed. The Bistecca Fiorentina is excellent as well as the fried zucchini flowers and porcini mushrooms, depending on the season. The ambiance is very charming and the staff is wonderful.

We were recommended to visit this restaurant and we weren't disappointed. It's tucked away on a little square - quite a steep walk up from the car park but worth it. The food was excellent - I had spinach and ricotta ravioli with sage butter sauce which was really good. The waiting staff do not all speak English but this... More
