This is a very clean, family-run restaurant serving well-cooked standard Tuscan fare. The pizzas are very good but try the grilled meats with chickpeas or lentils...very tasty.

Looking for a good but not too expensive place to eat, this restaurant was recommended to us by Lisa, the host at Suite d'Artista where we stayed (which is by the way highly recommended as well). Looking at previous reviews, we didn't have too high expectations regarding service, but on that evening in August, when the place was fully booked... More

We usually have a pizza and a glass of wine for lunch when we eat here. The food is local Tuscan and freshly prepared. Not a 30 minute stop, but traveling should be slow.

Nice food with reasonable pricing. Location is not top as there is no real view on the beautiful surroundings. Located in the center of Montalcino.

Quiet and charming restaurant and most diners were tourists. We chatted with other diners and gave each other tips on places to visit. Great atmostphere

Was staying in Montalcino as part of a several day Tuscan walking tour organized by www.girosole.com and this was one of the recommeded restaurants near to my hotel - after watching some of the Mondiale I came here one night and really was impressed by the food and the attentive service - ended up coming back the second night too!... I had a roasted Tuscan style sausage, and it was very good. The atmosphere was a little bit loud and crowded with people, but the food was very very good. The service was quick and orderly and even though there were a lot of people they didn't forget about us. It is a nice lunch stop in while you're exploring... More

We arrived a bit early by Italian standards and enjoyed the bruschetta and some delicious cheeses. For our main courses we had spaghetti and risotto. Both meals were spectacular and expertly cooked. They have a very extensive list of local wine varietals and the prices are reasonable. We would definitely go back.

This gem of a restaurant is run by a couple of young Italians and is a model of restaurant culture. Having waited tables for many years (and experiencing over the years many disappointing culinary ventures), this place was a model for how a restaurant should be run. There was attention to every detail here. Two service people for the entire... More

We heard before we headed to Montalcino that the restaurants were quite expensive, so we were pleased to come upon Il Grifo - and reading the menu I saw my opportunity to try Cinghiale (wild boar) which was served in a ragu over pappardelle. I was concerned it would be gamey or greasy but it had a wonderful rich flavor... More
