Don't be fooled by its looks, it's excellent!!

The restaurant doesn't look like much but the food is exquisite. Took the typical Toscan starter and some bruschetta, it was delicious and super fresh. The we took the pinci and the truffle tagliatelle, it was even better!!!! The only downside is that there is no terrace. But when it comes to... read more

This was one of the top two meals of a fortnight of amazing food. A lengthy cycle (with the last bit being 5km endlessly uphill into Montalcino) and we arrived in Montalcino feeling it was a Brunello di Montalcino theme park (to rival Piena being a Pecorino theme park.) Now don't get me wrong I love Tuscan towns but EVERYWHERE... More

Superb, "last night in Montalcino" meal. Delicious and reasonable; a real treat! Make reservations well in advance!

We found a hidden jewel in Montalcino with a genuinely skilled somm and waiter who led us through a menu if culinary delights. The bruschetta with pecorino and honey was the perfect starter. We'd also recommend the tagliatelle with arugula and nettles and the tortolloni with truffles. We enjoyed a bottle of Brunello, Siro Pacenti 2007, that was delicious and... More

Had dinner here the night we arrived in Italy, a bit jet lagged. Presentation was nice. Mixed boar salami was very good, ravioli with mushrooms was a bit heavy on the oil. Service was friendly, a bit more formal than some of the other spots we tried in Montalcino. Nice spot for couples.

We have visited here many times and it never fails to meet expectations. Wonderful quality, friendly service. Antonio as front of house is charming and welcoming. Great food and wine.

Family run. Roberto runs the front of house and clearly wants you to enjoy their food and the excellent wines by the glass at 4 euros a glass. The set menu is a steel at 25 euros for 4 courses including a marvellous beef in red wine. There's a vegetarian 4 course set menu that includes aubergine parmegiana (melanzane) which... More

Are you going to be in the Tuscan region near this lovely town of Montalcino? We were and found a delightful town with interesting shops and also a good selection of wine shops. At the suggestion of one of the shopkeepers we went to this restaurant. We lucked in. Husband and wife look after you. Roberta is in the kitchen... More

There is not a lot of good places to eat in Montalcino, but Re di Macchia was an exception: great food and service. They have a very good pasta with truffles.
