Great experience

Great place to eat, small home like atmosphere, very friendly service food is supper good however, the deserts are out of this world in taste and presentation.

Are you going to be in the Tuscan region near this lovely town of Montalcino? We were and found a delightful town with interesting shops and also a good selection of wine shops. At the suggestion of one of the shopkeepers we went to this restaurant. We lucked in. Husband and wife look after you. Roberta is in the kitchen... More

There is not a lot of good places to eat in Montalcino, but Re di Macchia was an exception: great food and service. They have a very good pasta with truffles.

Wow we loved our night at Re di Macchia, when we first arrived the restaurant was empty but it soon filled up. Antonio welcomed us & helped with our food & wine selections. We ate the ravioli with truffle sauce, guinea fowl, rabbit salad, lasagna, tiramisu & strawberry cheesecake and every course was absolutely delicious - Antonio was a great... More

We tried the vegetarian 4 course menu and it was excellent. They were very accommodating letting us share some dishes and also a few types of wine. Very charming restaurant, I can highly recommend it!

Roberta does an excellent job in the kitchen, and Antonio is the perfect host. Even after I knocked over a glass that then cracked the vase on the table, he remained his charming self. We do not remember what we ate that night. We waited too long to review this, but we do say unequivocally that this restaurant should not... More

The deserts here are really good as is the rest of the food. Service is always excellent and there is a good selection for wine. It is a small place so reservations would be a good idea. Their pinci with wild boar sauce is very good.

We tried Re di Macchia based on a recommendation, and I'm so glad we did! We showed up without a reservation, but Antonio was able to squeeze us in regardless. The food was superb. The best dinner we had while in Tuscany. Antonio also paired a variety of local wines to try with the meal. My only regret was not... More

My husband and I recently went, on 2 occasions, to Re di Macchi. We were on a walking tour and there were about 16 of us. The first night we went for a wonderful dinner. We had, among many other courses, tagliata fiorentina, the local grilled beef. Every course was amazing---as was the Brunello wine and the other wines we... More

We enjoyed a wonderful vegetarian tasting menu dinner with matching wines (especially the Brunello which was delicious and very reasonable) at a cosy table just outside the kitchen--felt really at home with the care from Antonio and the Tuscan flavours produced by Roberta...truly memorable!
