the waiters here were not particularly chatty, but the food was great. Seemed quite popular. We didn't have to reserve.

On our vacation in Italy, we visited Montalcino, and stopped at Grappolo Blu for lunch. It is located down a series of stone stairs that offer a lovely view of the country side. After being seated, we were presented with a huge wine list and a menu with a good selection of Italian dishes for lunch. The waiter seemed a... More

This was our least favorite place on this 2 week trip in Italy, and maybe even one of the least favorite in a dozen or so trips to various parts of Italy. There was nothing positive to write about. The restaurant was extremely hectic, and understandably so given it was Tursday night before Ferragosto. The staff was over extended, rushing... More

We ate here twice on our recent visit to Montalcino. The food was delicious and we had the Tagliatelle with mushrooms and truffle sauce twice, and the beef cheeks once. The wine list was huge and we ended up getting a bottle of Brunello that was suggested to us and it was very good. We had a couple of salads... More

This wonderful restaurant was a great find. All freshly made pasta with organic ingredients and nice atmosphere. An owner that was cordial and welcoming.

I read other reviews and have to say that I agree that the food was excellent and the wine list extensive. We could walk to this restaurant from Hotel dei Capitani. It is down a stair way tucked into the side of a building. We ate late one day and early another. We have to say that after a later... More

Walking in, we immediately realized we might be the only tourists in the establishment. That was more our problem than anybody else. Our host was very gracious, made dinner and wine suggestions that were excellent. We enjoyed the meal and atmosphere so much, I think we were the last to leave. On my next visit to this beautiful area, I... More

The food is excellent and the prices reasonable. The owner is very opinionated on what you should eat and why. It was fun bantering with him. The local pinca pasta was great.

This restaurant was recommended to us by the proprietor of a B & B where we stayed in Montalcino. We were impressed with every aspect of the restaurant and food. We enjoyed everything especially the boar; and pici with breadcrumbs that I had never had before and now order anywhere I can. I will be in Tuscany again this September... More

When getting ready to write this review, I was stunned it was #17! This is an excellent restaurant with food that is wonderful! I suggest trying their hand rolled-homemade pasta as well as the funghi pasta. Both are exceptional. Beware that it will take time to peruse the wine list. I have never seen such an extensive list (binder)!
