Good food and charming atmosphere

8 of us went here for lunch and ordered a large variety of dishes and everything was really good. Rabbit in red wine sauce, wild boar, turkey, soup, pasta with peas and pancetta, and, of course, some brunello. It was definitely an expensive lunch but everyone really enjoyed their food and the... read more

We ate at Grappolo Blu recently. While food was good and the wine selection great, the attitude of staff can be improved. Note they don't accept dogs and this seems to be a big deal.

Stopped here on our one day Tuscan private tour. My wife has "short pasta" with cheese and zucchini. She loved it. I had the local homemade spaghetti with Ragu sauce (loved the sauce, but had a few fennel seeds to add some zip). The pasta was outstanding! Had some house red with it, was just fine, although as others have... More

To make your travel in Italy richly rewarding you must visit Montalcino in Tuscany, and while there I strongly recommend lunch or dinner at this small, charming, restaurant in the historic heart of the town. This is Tuscan cooking at its very best, from the antipasto to the first courses of handmade pastas with traditional sauces to a wonderful range... More

The only positive thing I can say about this restaurant is that they provide good service for rich people. It was visible that they were much more nicer and attentive to the couple that you could easily guess were rich and came there to taste different things and various wines. We feld missed and not welcomed, althoug we've also ordered... More

I have been to Grappolo Blu on several trips to Montalcino, but this time I went with travelers who were new to Italy. As always, the owner was very friendly and helpful in explaining the menu and suggesting appropriate wine. The food was delicious and everyone was happy with their selections. I am sure I will go there again on... More

Family run, very small, rustic food. We got the balsamic glazed boar and it was earthy and wonderful.

Good restaurant within a short walk of the Hotel dei Capitani, tucked away down steps off the main street. It was recommended to us, but did not live up to the expectations. Welcome was warm and the waiters though not to talkative were efficient. Wine list that is one of the biggest we’ve had. However we were recommended the Brunello... More

And this doesn't mean the food is bad, just that it's not what a Tuscan is used to - for instance the 'pici all'aglione' served in this place have nothing to do with the real plate: pachino and garlic in big pieces, cooked not long enough and missing the real taste. In the restaurant we were the only Italuan couple... More

This was recommended by Rick Steves and the recommendation was absolutely right. We stopped here for lunch in a little cozy place on a weekday afternoon. I had one of my best meals of our two week visit to Italy. It was beef cheeks in a montalcino sauce that was to die for. The sauce was rich, very rich, and... More
