Yiannis has great quality as a person and this is reflected in his family taverna. I went more than once in my week in Rhodes!eucharisto

Since it was recommended in the Lonely Planet guidebook, and had received encouraging reviews on trip advisor, my boyfriend and I visited Yiannis Taverna. Firstly, it is only several metres from a public toilet. But, more importantly, the service was terrible. When we asked if we could have more time to decide what to order, the owner rolled her eyes.... More

We went there because it advised is in the Lonely Planet guide (Greek Islands 2014) and I wonder why. We went in the middle of the afternoon, ordered a Greek plate. We heard the microwave ring a few times, the food came pretty quickly and I didn't see any real cooking... and surely enough some parts of our meal were... More

So pleased to have stumbled across this delightful taverna tucked away in Old Rhodes Town. It's an authentic Greek café and it was good to see the locals using it too.

This was listed in our guide book, excellent place to eat away from the crowds and next to a very good supermarket for cheap Greek produce.

I saw all these comments on this site, so when I stumbled across this place (on accident) and recognized the grandma, I went in. It was horrible, as if I was eating in there livingroom! They were yelling to each other, there was no asking 'how was your meal?' and my peppersteak was burned. Needless to say we left very... More

On our first visit to Rhodes Town 14 years ago we came across Yiannis Taverna, We ate there most nights. We've just returned from another visit to Rhodes and found Yiannis just as good as ever. Its still run by the same family - mother still in her traditional costume! The food is good quality traditional Greek fare. The house... More

This restaurant served some of the very best Greek food we have had. It is a small, family operated place and the food was so delicious that we had dinner there four of the days that we were in Rhodes! Yia Yia (grandma) is usually out front, dressed in traditional clothing to greet people when they enter. The service was... More

Wandered round the Rhodes old town and looked at the overpriced 'Vulture Row restaurants'. We then went down a narrow side street and found this treasure which was run by a very friendly generous family. We were tempted inside by the lady wearing Greek traditional dress, An old man was straightening out vine leaves ready for stuffing. We had a... More
