The owner of our hotel we stayed in is a no nonsense woman. When we asked for recommendation for quality good food nearby we're informed about Yiannis. It is a family business. The service was fantastic, unpretentious! The food is superb. I think the meatballs are the best. I also tried the lamb special. The pasta sauce is also tasty.... More

We found this place and decided to eat lunch. I decided to use the restroom while the rest of us sat down, 6 adults and 2 children. When I found the restroom in the back I was stopped by the lady of the restaurant, she wanted to know if I were to eat there and I said yes. English is... More

We found this restaurant off the main drag as we were staying nearby. Mama sat outside daily watching the family run the restaurant and bringing them into touch if the service/food was not up to her exacting standards! Don't think posh - but lovely wholesome authentic Greek fayre at realistic prices for Rhodes old town. Have the house wine -... More

WOW! We had read about this little gem of a place tucked away, down one of the side alleys in the Old Quarter, in our Lonely Planet Greece book and decided to find it. It's quite hard to find, but we were determined! It looks very ordinary, but that's where ordinary ends! The grandfather and father cook and as they... More

From the minute we walked up, the staff made us feel right at home. Nice intimate setting with street music from our table (not restaurant employees). This felt like a truly Greek meal in a very touristy area. The value was excellent, with large portions (and FULL glasses of wine and beer). We will be going back.

Fantastic experience! The food was excellent, freshly prepared, typically Greec, and very very tasty! Even more importantly, our hosts were very nice and helpful, they helped us find a hotel room for seven people in high season. Maria is lovely. I highly recommend this place!

In a town where food can be expensive for tourists, this taverna offers a great deal to taste various options: the greek platter ($16 for two) serves tsatsiki, fried calamari, stuffed grape leaves, stuffed tomatoes, pastitsio, moussaka, meat balls and stifado. Affordable and delicious!

Since it was recommended in the Lonely Planet guidebook, and had received encouraging reviews on trip advisor, my boyfriend and I visited Yiannis Taverna. Firstly, it is only several metres from a public toilet. But, more importantly, the service was terrible. When we asked if we could have more time to decide what to order, the owner rolled her eyes.... More
