We dined here recently with a large group.... As we have done every couple of years. Wonderful welcome. Wonderful cuisine. Wonderful ambience. A really special place. Well done Le Darnetal, it is such a pleasure to eat with you!

We ate at three different restaurants during our stay in Montreuil-sur-Mer and this was definitely the pick of the bunch. Best food, best price, best atmosphere. The interior design is a bit random but that only added to the attraction.

Wow!! What a wonderful place to visit. The town itself is beautiful and the locals are very friendly. We visited the restaurant to celebrate our friends 30th birthday and upon arrival were pleased to see the amount of locals eating there; surely a good sign! The staff were very friendly and welcoming & luckily for us, they spoke very good... More

3-course lunch. Friendly and polite service. Excellent food. My wife had fois gras, followed by sea bass. I had crab and prawn gratin followed by veal kidneys in mustard sauce. We both had creme brulee to follow. Couldn't fault it. We would have gone back the following day, but two 3-course lunches in 48 hours would have been to much!

Returned to this beautiful restaurant and town after some 10 years with a group of nine friends for a special birthday meal. Booked the restaurant to ensure a table for nine on a Sunday lunchtime. There was more than enough choice on the menu to satisfy the needs of us all. Snails, Frog's Legs, Oysters, Foie Gras for starters. Mains... More

We were away for six weeks this year and none of the often overpriced restaurants Mrs Muttonen and I ate in during that time was up to the standard of Le Darnétal in Montreuil-sur-Mer, our last stopover before catching the homebound ferry from Calais. Mrs M’s starter choice was langoustines in orange butter sauce; mine was foie gras cooked with... More

We had failed to book but we were lucky enough to get the last table for two. We both chose the 29 euro menu and embarked on a feast of fish. We started with salmon prepared three ways and the warm oysters in a champagne sauce. Both were excellent but not as good as what followed. I had a precisely... More
