This small but cozy outdoor restaurant has been in Santa Teresa for quite a while. The outdoor eating area is rustic, yet warm and accommodating. The restaurant is owned by a couple who integrated local and Argentine cuisine, and with it, created a fusion that is tropical with hints of Italian, Argentine old school cuisine. I have to say that... More

We went here for dinner and it was fabulous! I enjoyed the grilled tuna and my husband the grilled octopus. Both were generous portions and we enjoyed the leftovers over fresh salad the following day. We highly recommend this restaurant.

My family has long been in the food business, so I've been blessed with a refined palette. Al Chile Viola treated that palette with respect, son. I started with the passion fruit avocado cocktail. Refreshing. For an app, we had the calamari. They were as large as American onion rings. The main course brought a finely prepared tuna steak. A... More

Our dining experience started off with some great music, tasty tuna tartare, and inventive specialty drinks. My husband and I were already impressed, and then came the entrees. They were amazing, beautifully presented and some of the best food I have ever had. The grilled octopus with roasted pumpkin was my favorite but we also loved the sea bass and... More

After eating in several restaurants in Santa Teresa (there are so many good places ) I can tell you that visiting "al Chile Viola" is for sure a must, if you come in a group/ family I’d recommend making a reservation in advance , the setting of the restaurant if fairly simple, we had a table near the kitchen where... Coming from "downtown" Santa Teresa you'd have to go on for some three to four kilometers, then it is on your right hand side, soon after the La Hacienda supermarket. Although right at the street, you are not bothered by dust or noise. The place is really charming, the atmosphere quite perfect. They have a few specials every day. Everything... More

Should be far higher up the trip advisor ranks than 8th it currently is and we only stumbled across this place after a glowing recommendation from Roger our hotel owner! Maybe it's because it's at the far end of Santa Teresa but believe us it's well worth the 15 min bumpy ride out here. Friendly, attentive and knowledgable staff were... More

One of the best italian food I had.. And leaving in Switzerland I was surprised that I have to find a gem like this in Costa Rica! The Chef is Italian and prepares amazing home made pasta. Do not miss the Bull balls ravioli with creamy prosciutto sauce et the tuna carpaccio! We also had a passion fruit margarita which... More

i have visited Al Chile Viola twice, once alone in July 2014, and most recently with my husband in February. On both visits the food, the service, and the atmosphere were quite memorable. I love the eclectic decor, with cushioned benches and beaded lamps. It makes for a cozy setting. The food is incredible...pasta perfectly Al dente, and sauces to... More

I'm told the chef/owner here is Italian an the food certainly shows it. Handmade pasta here is great. I had the carbonara and although it isn't the best I've ever had, it was still very authentic and tasted fantastic. My wife had tagliatelle with tomatoe and basil and she loved it (and she is half Italian so she knows a... More
