Good Local Food and Great Location

This is one of the few beach-front places still owned locally. We had lunch and ordered fish and thought it was delicious. Everything was cooked fresh. The view was also beautiful. Great prices. It was hard to find, but if you just ask around, it is worth the exploration! Most locals know it as... read more

It was hard to find, but if you just ask around, it is worth the exploration! Most locals know it as "Marva's restaurant".

My husband and I ate here on our first night in Hopkins. It was 1 of 2 restaurants very nearby where we were staying, so we took a quick walk over. It looked deserted, but we knocked on the door and were greeted warmly. I ordered pork chops with a baked potato and husband had grilled fish. Both of our... More

We ate here several times during our stay because it was close to the drum center. The food was very average. The pricing was very reasonable which kept us coming back.

Had a great dinner here on a calm, clear, quiet evening. My Moon guide book says this is the only beachside restaurant in Hopkins owned by a local (Garifuna) woman. I loved being able to eat outdoors and look out at the sea right there. Can't wait to go back and have more meals there. This is not fast food.... More

Imagine, you're walking on the beach on a sunday around lunchtime and all of a sudden the sea breeze blows the smell of delicious food in your nose. Locals are gathered around tables and they feast on delicious dishes like grilled fish, chicken, fajitas...Don't resist, you've found Laruni Hati, just sit down, order a cool beer, wait for your food... We reserved ahead for the hudutu and it was well worth it. For our last night in Hopkins we wanted to try this local dish which is mashed plantains with fish served in a coconut fish broth. Both my husband and I loved it, so we would highly recommend it.

We had several meals here, the fish was tasty. A nice spot on the beach to relax with a cold beer. If you can try her Hudut, it was great too. We had it at the drumming centre.

It was our destination for a Sunday night dinner. And well worth the adventure to the northside of the village! Miss Marva cooks up some seriously good food, while her husband Orlando keeps some cool beats playing as we sit with our toes in the sand. Cold beers and great conversation carried us beyond to enjoy a night of karaoke... More
