Beautiful setting

The restaurant is situated in the middle of the tropical spice garden in Batu Ferringhi. The views are extraordinary. They serve Thai food. We used to come to Tree Monkey whenever visiting Penang as my mom likes Thai food and the ambience here. As we have not visited this restaurant for sometime, we decided to take a slow drive with the old folks and have lunch here. The view is still spectacular, ambience of sitting surrounded by tree tops and white faced monkeys... More

We chose a selection of Thai tapas to share. They came beautifully presented, were sensible sized portions, and most importantly, were delicious. My wife's nutmeg soda was very refreshing as was my hot lemongrass, honey and ginger drink. And all of this with a lovely view to sea and a pleasant breeze.

went day a day after Valentine. Yes, no doubt the view is good with a very serene surrounding but when it comes to the cuisine, its very limited and it doesn't taste as good as one would thought. The wine selection is even worse, only offer one red wine and one chardonnay....what a spoiler. I wouldn't want to criticize too... More

It's easy to be lulled by Tree Monkey's terrific location overlooking forest-lined beach. However the dining experience leaves a lot to be desired. Apart from a decent bowl of Tom Kha, the food was decidedly lacklustre - pineapple rice, just about fulfilling the "with chicken" description with one piece of chicken, looked spectacular but was bland and didn't seem freshly... We went to the Tropical Spice Garden on recommendation by our hotelier and were instructed not to miss the on site restaurant. After the guided tour, the only restaurant available to sit and have a spot of lunch was Tree Monkey. The menu is quite confused: malay, thai, chinese, tapas. They obviously have a monopoly on the place and charged... More

Hi there, Obviously you must have some misconception about this beautiful place which serves good and tasty foods as from the 300 reviews we had received. Understandingly, not everyone will agree with you that our fried rice and foods are tasteless and lukewarm. You must be ignorant to the facts that this place is monopoly by us and we charge... More

Ate here after visiting the Spice Gardens. Good authentic Thai food, freshly prepared and seated overlooking the sea. Great

This is a very nice thai restaurant sitting up high on a hill overlooking the ocean sort of in a jungle setting its only a RM1.40 bus trip from Batu-Ferringi ( bus 101 ) it is located adjoining the spice garden but be warned its a very steep hill to climb up to get to it, the view is lovely... A special dining experience with the nature as you can see monkeys, squirrels, hills and the sea. Wish that the serving portion could be more generous for the price. The sea view is mostly sheltered by the lush trees. Upon receiving the payment, the waiter did not say 'thank you'. Not a full satisfactory dining experience as expected unfortunately. However,... It is located inside Tropical Spice Garden so I don't know if you can eat there without paying the entrance fee to TSG (maybe you can). We had Thai carbonara (too soupy but still delicious) and a kind of mango salad (yummy mix of sweet, sour and spicy). Not for those who are looking for cheap eat. Over-all the resto... More
