Went to this place with my family. We really enjoy the food ,excellent. The mocktail and the appetizer was delicious. The name speak for itself ,you have to climb a bit to the hill but once you reach there, it is all worth it. Be careful if you go there with small children,as they do not have a designated parking... We went to Tree Monkey on a recent trip to Penang and absolutely loved it. Initially had a little trouble finding it but if you go to the entrance to the Spice Gardens, it is just before it through a separate gate (with a sign). A steep but short trek up the hill, shouldn't be a problem for most people.... More

As expected, the setting is beautiful overlooking the sea and watching the sun setting. What was surprising was the quality of the food, the tapas particularly was excellent, and the main dishes authentic, flavoursome and great value. The restaurant was very quiet when we visited, but we heartily recommend this lovely restaurant.

Visited twice: once with my wife and once as part of a large party. The latter was an impressive event, good food, easy service, and tropical downpour to add a certain excitement during the meal. As a couple we found the menu relatively expensive, the portions unimpressive, and the cuisine not particularly special. The venue is quite spectacular (take your... More

The restaurant is situated in the middle of the tropical spice garden in Batu Ferringhi. The views are extraordinary. They serve Thai food. Among a la carte dishes, they have the choice of Thai tapas and I liked that you have the option to choose from many different dishes in small portions. We tried one set of 8 tapas (more... More

We used to come to Tree Monkey whenever visiting Penang as my mom likes Thai food and the ambience here. As we have not visited this restaurant for sometime, we decided to take a slow drive with the old folks and have lunch here. The view is still spectacular, ambience of sitting surrounded by tree tops and white faced monkeys... More

We chose a selection of Thai tapas to share. They came beautifully presented, were sensible sized portions, and most importantly, were delicious. My wife's nutmeg soda was very refreshing as was my hot lemongrass, honey and ginger drink. And all of this with a lovely view to sea and a pleasant breeze.

went day a day after Valentine. Yes, no doubt the view is good with a very serene surrounding but when it comes to the cuisine, its very limited and it doesn't taste as good as one would thought. The wine selection is even worse, only offer one red wine and one chardonnay....what a spoiler. I wouldn't want to criticize too... More

It's easy to be lulled by Tree Monkey's terrific location overlooking forest-lined beach. However the dining experience leaves a lot to be desired. Apart from a decent bowl of Tom Kha, the food was decidedly lacklustre - pineapple rice, just about fulfilling the "with chicken" description with one piece of chicken, looked spectacular but was bland and didn't seem freshly...
