Description: HUHU Cafe offers visitors to Waitomo the opportunity to sample great New Zealand cuisine in a beautiful setting. We offer a delicious evening menu, perfect for enjoying with a cold one on the sunny deck after a hard day's caving or glow-worm spotting! You can enjoy delicious treats such as Caramelised Garlic & Goats Cheese Tart, Wild Rabbit Hotpot, Organic Rib-Eye, Dark Chocolate Souffle & Poached Tamarillos to name but a few (please note that our menu changes on a regular basis, depending on what we can source from our suppliers). Wherever possible, we use local providers - our lamb comes from farms around Te Kuiti, our cheese from Putaruru & our berries (when in season) are from Piopio. Our wine list consists of a number of great New Zealand wine varieties and our beer list features a selection of boutique beers to whet the whistle! Cosy up by our woodburner during the winter months or chill out on our deck over summer... Have we tempted your tastebuds? Well then, we look forward to seeing you at HUHU sometime soon!

We went there for dinner after having drinks at the pub. It's winter so the village didn't have many people around so we were surprised to find something open. Nonetheless it was a great meal. I had the chicken salad and it was really good. Price wise not bad, 25 for my main. Very good considering they could charge what... More

Awesome food, and great beers brewed downstairs! I love that 98% of the drinks menu comes from NZ (except 2 wines from Australia). Plus, the food - wow - we had the lamb shank and steak, both awesome. Reasonably priced with full satisfaction. There isn't a big choice of food in Waitomo, but the Huhu cafe is the top choice.

although Waitomo cave are a tourist attraction, the village next to the cave is small and far away from everything. Consequently, I didn't expect much in the way of culinary experience. We went to Huhu twiceand had wondrful lunch and dinner. We had pasta, chicken with chorizo, lamb, salmon, deserts. All tasty, even the brocoli salad was very good. Special... More

We ate there twice for dinner. The first night we were extremely impressed. Given the limited options in the area, they could probably have gotten away with serving mediocre food. Instead they serve a good variety of quality food. On the second night, I ordered a salmon dish, but my boyfriend ordered a steak that he sent back twice because... More

I ordered the risotto, which is made looks like small meat ball, but it's rice inside. Some tomato sauce and taste just right.! Strongly recommend, the best restaurant in Waitomo cave village.

Had dinner at the Hu Hu cafe while visiting Waitomo. Reasonably priced, friendly service and fantastic food. The peanut butter parfait was particularly delicious.

Walked in without reservations after having our tour at the glowworm waitomo caves. It's usually packed so do make reservations before going to be safe. We were famished and this place was recommended by the tour guide. It is not very far from the caves. Forgot what we had but be sure to visit if u happen to be in... More

Fantastic food! Called in for lunch and the food was so scrumptious we went back for dinner! Caters for all ages and tastes. Clean premises, friendly staff and cosy venue. Big doors open to the balcony for amazing rural views during the day and had the fire cranked up in the evening. Highly recommend and would definitely return.
