Description: HUHU Cafe offers visitors to Waitomo the opportunity to sample great New Zealand cuisine in a beautiful setting. We offer a delicious evening menu, perfect for enjoying with a cold one on the sunny deck after a hard day's caving or glow-worm spotting! You can enjoy delicious treats such as Caramelised Garlic & Goats Cheese Tart, Wild Rabbit Hotpot, Organic Rib-Eye, Dark Chocolate Souffle & Poached Tamarillos to name but a few (please note that our menu changes on a regular basis, depending on what we can source from our suppliers). Wherever possible, we use local providers - our lamb comes from farms around Te Kuiti, our cheese from Putaruru & our berries (when in season) are from Piopio. Our wine list consists of a number of great New Zealand wine varieties and our beer list features a selection of boutique beers to whet the whistle! Cosy up by our woodburner during the winter months or chill out on our deck over summer... Have we tempted your tastebuds? Well then, we look forward to seeing you at HUHU sometime soon!

My husband and I popped into the Huhu for lunch after our glowworm tour with Spellbound. The food was extremely good. The staff were very attentive, plus we had free wifi to check emails etc.

Stopped at HuHu on after a visit to the Waitomo Caves – mid week in October. We were driving through the village looking for somewhere for lunch and decided on HuHU. Very quiet with one other couple inside – a few others came in later. Very friendly and helpful wait staff. We decided on the Scotch cut steak which was... More

In pouring rain we ran up the hill and took advantage of the strategic located restaurant at the entrance to our Top Ten RV camper site! Can't describe how blessed we were with that decision and our indecision with the eclectic menu full of New Zealand delights! Watched the chef and sous-chef turn out course after course all full of... More

Good food, the best near the caves. Can get very busy however and they were struggling with a full house the night we went (so we didn't bother staying for dessert). Would have gone back for breakfast but they don't open till 10 and we had a cave tour booked, so be warned (not much else on offer in the... More

Stayed at the camp site next door so needed somewhere to eat. Didn't book, they were really busy but squeezed us in....Thank God for that or we'd have missed out big time!! Absolute taste explosion!! Local brewed beer, lovely cider and the food and service were top notch. We had IPA and cider to drink, pork loin and salmon followed... More

Went there twice during our short stay it was so good. Stayed at the campground next door. Great local beer brewed down the street. And desserts to die for.

We saw Huhu and decided to stop because we had been driving for hours and needed a place to regain energy. Wow, it worked better than we expected. Great food, fast service and fair prices for the quality. We came back for lunch the next day, to try more options of the menu. The waitress also gave us a lot... More

We went the Huhu café as last minute thing and they went out their way to accommodate us as they were quite busy. The food was delicious and service was great. I recommend the peanut butter parfait. A great place to eat whenever you are in Waitomo.

My husband and I went for lunch when we got in to Waitomo before our caving adventure. We had the pumpkin & cheddar risotto balls and their lemon, thyme, garlic chicken. We enjoyed it so much we decided to go back for dinner after our adventure; though we did try other items on the menu. The food was surprisingly good... More

What a find. Traveling with the kids, after many hours of driving came across HUHU. So happy we stopped. They were so good with the kids- Brought activities to the table for them-accommodated my sons egg and nut allergy carefully and without fuss- If that wasn't enough for two tired parents, the food was absolutely delicious and great value. The... More
