Criolla done well with lots of trout - local.

Attractive cosy restaurant behind the cathedral just off the main square. Large menu with all the favourites. Trout features big because it is raised all over the valley. It was well cooked in a number of ways. Artichokes are also a local speciality- chicharron is delicious. Service was not bad... read more

We got to the restaurant when there was no people yet, so we could choose a table for us. The menu is really extensive, and food is good... not great, but more than acceptable. Service on the other hand, was not that good of a experience. Entrees are good. Desserts are NOT to be ordered. None of them looked good.

Food tastes pretty alright even I found it a bit too salty for my taste. I had a noodle dish which was basically a giant size! I can't even finish one forth of it. Service can be quite slow and WIFI doesn't work very well.

This is the classic place to eat lunch or dinner when in Huancayo. The food is well prepared, with an extensive menu. The owner lived in the US for several years, and is familiar with US preparation standards, not a given in this out-of-the-way corner of Peru with few North American tourists. I have eaten here several times since I... More

We were here two times, and everything we had was really good! Also good service, and nice ambience.

Restaurant service in Huancayo is unprofessional at best, but my experience at Detras de la Catedral was the worst I've experienced. We walked into a warm and cozy restaurant with an extensive menu, so were quite happy at first. We had to wait a while for someone to take our order, but no big deal. My partner ordered a pasta... Sorry about your bad experience. I do sincerely apologize for our service mistakes and for the fake coin. However, I have had worse experiences traveling in Peru and overseas. Among them, being sick due to bad food or raw water from the faucett. I have also been given a $100 bill that was fake at a hotel. The restaurant business... More

I've eaten here many times. You'll find a wonderful environment and the food is highly recommended. My favorite is chicken detrás de la catedral con papas plancheras.

This is a place you should eat dinner or lunch on the first day you are in town (and you will probably eat here every day after that). Not only is the food absolutely delicious (I 100% recommend the ossobuco with fetuccini) and fantastic value, but the owner - who speaks perfect English - will take the time to advise... More

First day in town we decided to visit this place because it was just in front of our hotel. What a nice surprise, we were welcomed by one of the owners who spoke a perfect English. He was attentive and gave us great tips on visiting the town. As it was our first day there and we were still suffering... More

Given that this was rated #1, we were eager to try it our first night in Huancayo. The menu boasted of a wide selection of dishes and we were pleased with the prices. We tried a few different items and they were all delicious. We loved the variety of sauces they brought to the table for us to enjoy. But,... More
