Just two or three blocks from the square and an easy walk. It is a beautiful thatched roof restaurant with attractive wait staff in Mexican dresses. The food was unusual and very good. We had taken the Oriente bus to Izamal and it is a bit problematical as to time and how long it takes.

The atmosphere here is very open and outdoorsy even though you are inside . The restaurant is like a garden courtyard - very pretty . The food was very tasty - we had a pork dish and a pollo pibil- both were very tender and very tasty . There is a syrupy papaya dessert that is very sweet - I... More

We made a trip to Kimbila to look for clothing. After we finished shopping we decided to eat lunch at Kinich (about a 15 minute drive from Kimbila). We have eaten here several times in the past and have found it to be a nice place to eat. We were not disappointed. Many of the shops in Izamal close at... More

The papadzules were only ok, but the slow-braised pork with pickled onions (cochinita pibil) was tasty.

We stopped by Izamal for a few hours on our way from Merida to Holbox, and were utterly charmed by the little town. Most shops and restaurants appeared to be closed while we were there, but two shop owners recommended Kinich to us. While touristy, we still really enjoyed the breezy atmosphere under the giant palapa, and the traditional food,... More

I've been to Kinich 2x now and I wonder why their service isn't a bit better. The food is OK, not cheap but ok in price and quality But the service is so lacking. disinterested, disorganized, impersonal. I think they are a magnet for tours so they don't have to try too hard. But prompter attention could improve the experience.... More

We had to wait for 30 minutes to get a table but it was worth. I ordered the cochinita pibil, it was really good. The tortillas were fresh and very good tasty. Prices are totally affordable. Very recommended to spend a couple of hours in Izamal and to go to Kinich.

The place is beautiful, and the ladies making handmade tortillas almost in the dining room are lovely. However, the food is really disappointing. Margaritas had no alcohol in them and were much too sweet. Even their signature Papadzules were just okay. To top it off, it got me stomach sick.

I ate at Kinich El Sabor Restaurant for lunch during my day trip to Izamal from Merida on November 20th. The restaurant is open from 12 to 9 pm daily. I ordered the papadzules and Jamaica juice. Both were so delicious, fresh, made with high quality ingredients, and beautifully presented! The papadzules were the best that I tasted during my... More
