Kinich El Sabor de Izamal serves good, traditional Yucatecan food. The restaurant staff is dressed in traditional clothing and the decor is reminiscent of a Mayan house. A cool little oasis for lunch or early supper.

Good yucatan food, nice ambience, good service. Apparently a popular tour stop, but so do local residents.

We were here with a group of a dozen birdwatchers, and near as I recall everyone was very happy with what they ordered. Our local guide ordered Puc Choc (grilled pork) for himself so I did as well. It was tasty, tender, perfectly spiced, and properly grilled, but it seemed everyone pretty much liked whatever they had. The staff, like... More

This glorious restaurant, Restaurante Kinich, is an unexpected culinary and shopping delight in the yellow-painted town of Izamal. In ancient times, Izamal was a centre of worship for the supreme Mayan god, Itzamna and the sun god, Kinich-Kakmo. This worship of Kinich is why this town has bright yellow walls and buildings throughout. In a hot yellow-painted street tucked away... More

Can't recommend this restaurant enough. Best food in all the Yucatan. Highly recommend the cocinita pibil, flan and coconut ice cream

We were pleasantly surprised to find such a fine restaurant in Izamal, MX. I have to say, the food at Kinich was the best I had in all of my travels around the Yucatan. Try the pork panuchos--they're to die for--so are the flan and coconut ice cream.

This is an excellent restaurant. Yucatecan food is a combination of prehispanic and colonial food. Not easy to prepare and unique. We were a party of 7 people, three of them locals and the rest from other parts of Mexico, USA and Italy. Everything that was ordered was delicious, maybe except for the fried plantains. The cochinita pibil, relleno negro,... More

Probably one of the best traditional meals I had over my Yucatan vacation. Izamal is a small beautiful touristic town that I never expected to have such a restaurant with an relaxing setting and delicious food. My charcoal grilled pork was superb! Everything I tried from what my family ordered was also good. This place is a must if visiting... More

You walk in off a seemingly small street through a single door, into a massive compound that is open, but covered by mayan thatch in a modern recreation of the typical oval hut. The staff, the same as every Yucatecan, are incredibly friendly and helpful. The food is a great variety of Mayan/Yucatecan foods. I had the wood grilled pork... More

We ate here while on an excursion with Carnival. Loved the atmosphere and the food was good and fresh. A small margarita was $5.00 but didn't seem to have any alcohol in it. We had very small portions but that may be due to the prepay in the excursion price. Definitely would recommend it.
