Zapata has some of the best seafood you will get on the island, and offers it in a number of ways that provide options for everyone in a group. Portions are generous, drinks are well provisioned, and the staff is excellent, friendly and responsive. The dirt floor is great for barefoot children and adults alike, and the tasteful, contemporary live... More

Very friendly staff , excellent food and the best margaritas of the holiday, we met a young Aussie couple and had a very pleasant boozy afternoon. Note that swing seats and drunk blokes do NOT mix!,,

Viva Zapata was hopping when I approached and I thought it was because of the cool bar with swings and really outgoing staff. Then I noticed some of the plates being served and immediately asked for a table. I wasn't disappointed! It turns out the owner is himself a fisherman and clearly knows all there is to know about cooking... More

On the recommendation of one of the hotel staff where we were staying we tried Viva Zapata. We both had sea-food and were happy with our meals. My wife had a spicy shrimp and I had a fish cooked the banana leaf on the grill. It's a pretty fast moving place with waiters flying around and there is live music,... More

The food was average at best. We ordered two starters, the waiter served one of the two. Then we added another starter. He served the two but one of them was incorrect. He got nasty when we explained to him what he served was not what order. He then stopped serving us and had someone else deliverr our dinner. This... More

This is a lively restaurant with nice atmosphere! The waitors are very nice, but sometimes almost are a bit "too much". The Camarones Zapata (prawns) were very good, but the Arrachera beef was not.

This was our first stop after getting off the ferry, and we were so hot and somewhat perplexed on where to go. So we stopped here to get a drink. Electricity was off, so no frozen pinas, so settled for a rum punch, had 2 and then we did not have a care in the world. Staff was nice and... More

Very warm welcome here, had an excellent seafood plater. Really nice atmosphere, live music. Particularly enjoyed the service from our waiter (can't remember his name but his nickname, I overheard him say, is the Mexican for 'shorty'), funny, warm and attentive. Gracias Senior. Nice bar area too.

Very lively bar/restaurant. We went twice. Once for a late meal, and once just for drinks at the front bar lounge area (very comfy!) . There was live music both times, nice, but not very good talent. lol. Service was great, our meals were average but nothing wrong with them. They just were not ver memorable. Definitely would put it... More

I was so surprised to read the following review. It is the most accurate review since we responded in December 2013...and the review no longer is on this site. Please read and take to heart. "For our last supper we decided to go to Viva Zapata as we had read some good reviews. F ood was decent but the waiters... More

We are currently looking into what exactly happened here. In ten years of striving to run an honest business, we have never given any staff member the OK to offer any sort of discount- but try to offer fair prices on both drinks and menu items instead of promotions. We sincerely apologize for your experience with us and do hope... More
