I ate on more than 1 occasion here, I am a little particular about the sushi I like and one of the chefs Dan can to see me and asked what I liked and made me my own special dish which was amazing. The bartender Erik was also friendly and welcoming. I would definitely head back if I returned to... More

Everytime I'm on island I head here for great sushi. Fresh fresh ingredients. Unique rolls. I'm dreaming still of the jerk tuna sashimi. Great vegetarian options too. I love to sit out on the water, enjoy the view while enjoying a great meal at Enkai. It's worth searching it out. Looking forward to my next visit!

worst sushi ever had. 1st time sushi was okay if you needed a sushi fix but the last time it was beyond awful and the service was just as bad. there is fair sushi at the restaurant at the cruise dock and very good sushi at red hook next to the gentleman's club. don't go. enough said.

I eat only the vegetarian rolls, but my kids love sushi and they thought Enkai was fabulous. I don't think there is anything else on the island that can compare!

We ventured through the back streets of Frenchtown to come to what looks like a shanty on the water. It's an open air restaurant with an active bar for the dock. Friendly waitress took our order and quickly brought our sake. A very well plated dish of sashimi arrived. Large slabs of very fresh salmon, snapper, tuna and yellowtail. As... More

We've eaten at Enkai every year from the first year it opened in Frenchtown. Despite ownership and staff changes, it remains the best, most innovative, and reliable sushi restaurant on the island. Assuming you can find it - always a challenge - it's worth the trip and we usually eat there at least twice on every island visit. Steve is... More

We have eaten sushi from California to New York, and always looked forward to our annual visit to Enkai to try Katie's inventive and delicious rolls made with the freshest of fish. Apparently Enkai is under new ownership and while the selections on the menu are familiar, the quality is gone forever. In fact, the night we visited we were... More

Dear Cherirosenbradley, We are sorry to hear that your most recent experience with us was disappointing. While it's true that Katie left the restaurant two years ago, the current owner, Steve, has been managing the kitchen for more than three years. Food quality is our most important focus, which is one of the reasons we have temporarily removed eel from... More

Fish was incredibly fresh, staff very friendly, and the roll combinations are amazing. We sat with Dan @ the sushi bar and he killed it! The ambiance is also spectacular. This will definitely be my first choice in dining out from now on.

For the Island I'll give them 4/5 stars. I should preface this review - I am from the Pacific NW and routinely each sushi from Portland and Seattle, which short of going to asia is pretty much untouchable. I ordered the bento box and found the rice to be somewhat dry and undercooked. The roll was difficult to enjoy on... More

Dear JohnRader, Thank you for your feedback. I'm so sorry that the rice was dry when you had lunch with us. As you indicated, the rice can make or break the quality of a roll. We are constantly on the look out for areas of improvement and areas of success. We appreciate your comments. Sincerely, Enkai Sushi Bar P.S. We're... More
