Very popular rustic cafe situated about half way up the high street. Serves fantastic cakes, sandwiches and coffee. The Big Rock Cafe is a warm and friendly place, full of rustic charm ....and the food is all made on site to the very highest standard. No visit to Porth Madog is truly complete without lunch in the Big Rock.

Not the most quintessential team and stickies venue, but they serve hot tea, great big sticky buns, and so many other delicious looking things, I wish I lived in Porthmadog so I could eat there more often. Very busy at lunchtimes, and in the morning. Quieter in the afternoon.

We stumbled upon this place on a rainy day in Porthmadog, it was the smell of home baked bread that tempted us in to take shelter. The food is wonderful and the thick 'doorstops' of freshly baked bread taste amazing,we can totally recommend the cheese on toast and the cooked breakfast made with local ingredients. (If you have room, try... More

We called in here by accident. What a gem. Lovely home made food in nice surroundings. We will be back.

We chose the Big Rock cafe as it was obviously local and independent rather than the usual chains, plus the homemade cakes and pastries in the window looked very welcoming. The coffees were fairly standard, perhaps not quite as strong as I prefer, but the paninis were excellent, far removed from the factory made stuff served up in so many... More

Had tea and cake there, both lovely. Good range of gluten free cakes, they did lunches as well. Could see it was popular with the locals for both.

Great, bustling café in Porthmadog. Large choice of café food and some really good cakes! Drinks are the usual choices and all made really well. The café can be busy and slow to be served at times but overall it is really worth it. Great relaxed venue for a family break in the holiday schedule! Recently started doing bakery products... More

We popped in here for a cooked breakfast. The food was good, but the bacon lacked flavour. The bread was made on site and was delicious. Lots and lots of interesting breads, chutneys, pickles etc to take away with you. well worth a visit.
