Walking by and read the menu board outside the cafe and was tempted to go in. We were very pleased we did. Couldn't believe the amount of seating. Ideal for a snack lunch - all sorts of sandwiches, paninis etc with loads of different fillings. I had the feeling that you could have asked for anything and the staff could... More

There are a few deli's and sandwich shops in Porthmadog but I urge you to go straight to The Big Rock for a quirky paradise of home cooked goodies, great service and even better value! I had a Feta Stromboli which was huge - at just £1.70 - the children loved choosing their own Kid's Pack meals which were packed... More

Love the Big Rock. They have an interesting range of sandwich fillings and breads available, plus some yummy cakes for your sweet tooth. Coffees are of decent quality and size too. Try to resist taking home some of their fresh bread, cakes and biscuits for later, the range is really excellent! Worth noting that they don't open on Sundays.

We eat here at least once whenever we come to Portmadog as we know the food is always great and ideal for a lunchtime snack. Little word of advice to first timers, do not be put off by the lack of available seats just as you walk in, there are more at the back of the building.

Always go for a coffee and cake here. Food is good and fresh. It has a good ambiance. Like the new log burner out the back

I really enjoyed my lunch in this her it was very tasty and everything was Home made to order. They also do I large selection of home-made juice is made from fruits and vegetables. I had a ham and cheese sandwich and the bread was delicious as it was home-made . If you like deserts you definitely have gone through... More

I enjoyed a nice pot of tea, unfortunately the flapjack and cake I had along with it was terrible (both so dry & tasteless) the shop area was extremely busy with people fussing around with bread, loafs and rolls….trying to decide what was fresh! I can see why it’s a busy spot as the take-away trade was manic busy.

We had a very tasty breakfast here, food is always brilliant, coffee great also very efficient loads of healthy food available. Staff are very helpful but not a smile in sight, shame they don't seem happy with life at all. Just an observation by myself been there a few times now. Food is really good though!

Whilst staying in the area for a few days this cafe was a great find. Ate from there everyday for lunch and bought things takeaway for our evening meal. Stromboli, quando, soda bread were all delicious. The homity pie was the winner for me. Being vegetarian i found there were always many options to eat here, not something that happens... More
