Good Food, friendly staff

We had a lovely peaceful hour here in the tiny courtyard which felt like we were somewhere in Italy rather than Wales. Food wasn't anything special but they had nice icecream and ok coffee. Great service though and very welcoming of our toddler.

When i walked in i didn't know what to expect as it looked a bit outdated but i ordered a steak and garlic baguette and it was lovely. The baguette was soft inside and crunchy on the outside. The steak strips were nicely cooked and the flavoring was tasty. The price wasn't bad either and the staff were very friendly.... More

Just popped in the Grapevine for a cream tea on my way to the station. Beautiful scone with a generous portion of jam, cream and butter, pot of tea and a pot of hot water all for £3.75. Friendly service, papers to read just a comfortable place to linger. Seemed to be doing a fair Sunday lunch trade when I... More

Average food - my fish was so chewy I had to check I wasn't eating my shoe leather. The wife's roast beef was equally average. Long wait - 40 minutes when the cafe is full - not worth it for the quality. Toilets - disgrace - although a notice states that is their Christmas project! Sorry - you can't call... More

If you don't fancy the Royal Sportsman over the road, give his place a try. Friendly waiting staff, a good choice of specials and they don't hold back on the portions. Porthmadog closes early so make sure you are there in good time for dinner.

A group of us staying at the Sportsman opposite decided to give this place a go. We were not disappointed. It is far more reasonably priced than across the road and we were accommodated at the last minute arriving quite late by North Wales standards. The kitchen remained open and we tucked into what can only be described as hearty... More

My wife and I visited this restaurant one evening during a recent visit to Porthmadog. The exterior catches the eye but the menu in the window looks unexciting. However, there are blackboards inside with further dishes. Don't be put off, the food was very good, reasonably priced and the staff friendly and helpful.
