This place was on my list for a visit, ideally for an evening meal, on our recent break in Porthmadog. However, it is no longer open in the evening. So, lunch it was. The menu offered a fairly average selection of sandwiches, salads, wraps etc plus all the usual 'cafe' items. The specials board did provide some relief from the norm... More

I live locally and eat in many local cafes but Yr Hen Fecws is my favourite cafe for lunch - because of the quality and choice. The menu is changed regularly and many dishes are more exciting and unusual than all other cafes offer. The food is freshly prepared and homemade. Last time I had one of the best garlic... More

We popped in for breakfast and were actually the only 'off the street guests' all the rest were B&B'ers. We had the full welsh which was nicely cooked and a good variety of items - sauted potatoes, egg, bacon, sausage, toms, mushrooms. The sausage was a bit of a let down, i would have expected a better qulaity as all... More

Before our party of 8(4 adults 4 well behaved girls) had all got through the door we were shooed back out the door and told they had no tables when they clearly had! Very abrupt.. Their loss missed out on a good £50+. Went to the Rock Cafe on the high street which was quirky and delicious!

It's lovely and quaint when you go in, the fire was roaring and plenty of customers there. We were shown a table and given a menu each. I have to say, the man taking the order wasn't blessed with charm but the food was LOVELY! Food we had was 10/10 Club sandwich with shoestring fries Leek and potato soup and... More

Had a stopover lunch here recently- great atmosphere! Was like a lodge in the Alps with the ambience and smell of burning logs. Had a toasted wrap with 'proper' pancetta and perl wen local cheese and a beetroot jam. Served with a fresh salad and shared fries this was lovely. Highly recommended- although soft driks are very pricey. Nearly £2... More

We had been wanting to eat in The Ship but we were too late for lunch and this did us a service because we ended up more or less at the cafe next door. The selection of dishes on the menu and the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff was excellent. Everything was freshly cooked. I... More
