All good for the money

For the money, the food was good. Two burgers more than happy for a fiver. Service pretty crap, had to Chase staff to get a table and for bill and to pay, however, what do people expect for the price range? Pub could do with a lick of paint, but again, for the price! Beer garden looks lovely and... read more

The Dog Inn is one of our regular lunch time venues. The food is good pub grub, service is good and mid-week it is not too busy. We like to sit out at the back in Summer and enjoy the country around. If you want a reasonable pub meal in good surrounding give it a try.

Had not visited The Dog for a number of years, so took a friend for a sandwich lunch. Two prawn mayo sandwiches on a plate of green stuff and not nice crisp-type things, had to use knife and fork to eat sandwiches as the (tasteless) prawn mix was so runny it soaked the bread which fell apart. Two pints of... More

I have recently rediscovered this pub. My wife and I have now both realised we both came here as children and probably played together. Back then it was a little more up market. It now reaches out to a wider clientele with its menu and offers. Though for what you pay its great value and still a great pub and... More

we took our 90yr old father to this establishment to celebrate his birthday, it was the worst eating experience we have endured ! we were ignored at the bar for a full 5 mins when we arrived and we were the only people at the bar !! there were two staff in the bar but they kept leaving and returning... I drive past The Dog every day of the week and decided to give it go on a Tuesday evening, having not visited for a number of years. I chose the steak with prawns and my wife chose the sea bass. The food came very quickly. My wife's food looked and tasted awful. The sea bass was still in tin... More

Popped in for an easy lunch, mid afternoon last Saturday. Not very busy so we didn't have any problems with waiting times that other reviewers have commented on. The girl behind the bar and the waitress were both polite and pleasant. The menu and the specials board were exactly the same that you see in all Marston's pubs and is... More

I now eat here quite often. yes it is a chain pub, but that doesn't take away from the good food and even better service. Some of my Italian colleagues were visiting the Uk and wanted " Fish & Chips". The Dog inn was an obvious choice. After initial giggles from them after i told them i was 2 Taking... More

Visited here with friends and we all ordered one of their specials - Steak meals for 2 people and a bottle of wine for £20 - couldn't fault the food, wine and comfort of this pub. Lots to choose from on their 2 for 1 me ue so it becomes a cheap night out, with good food and excellent service
