Visited with family for early evening meal on a Friday night. The restaurant wasn't too busy but drinks order took a while to arrive. Food service was better and the meals tasty. Everything well cooked and well presented. The steak and ale pie was particularly good. Rounded the meal off with some nice desserts. All in all a pleasant family... More

My family and I arrived at the restaurant hoping for a good meal after a reasonable wait. We were kept waiting about 20mins for our order to be taken and a further 40mins for the food to arrive. I had asked how long the wait would be and was told around 20mins. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone... More

As another gentleman said on here this week, the meet and greet at the doorway was slow. We were given menus immediately and we ordered drinks but then after 10 minutes we had to go and ask at the bar why no one had come with our drinks and to take our food order. When the drinks finally came, the... More

We often frequent the Bell as it is only 5 minutes from our house. The staff are very friendly and helpful and even if we have only gone down for a drink but decide to eat they are very accomodating they have even let us eat in the bar area on occasion. It is a very relaxed atmosphere to enjoy... More

Poor food, hopelessly inadequate service, which is a great shame....this has been a favourite place to visit over many years and has simply deteriorated beyond recognition...always seems to struggle with meet and greet and a youthful service team that appears inadequately trained or else poorly managed or both....if it had not been funny...Faulty Towers-esque..it would have marred a birthday treat...

My husband and I went to the Bell tonight, as it was my birthday, the service was crap, but we thought never mind the food is always good here! The menu was not to my taste, so I ordered a chicken dish with broad beans pea shoots and spinach, it came with "potato salad", which I didn't want, so I... More

I decided to book a table at The Bell for 8 people as a family treat as my Daughter and her Fiancee' were staying over from London. As the party included my 2 Grandchildren aged 12 and 10 I booked a table for 7.30pm. Although the booking was confirmed and my name and phone number taken when we arrived the... More

Wasn't sure what to expect but it was excellent. Great menu choices, all 3 courses absolutely delicious, and very pleasantly surprised. Definitely visit again soon.
