Friendly and warm experience with lovely atmosphere with helpful staff. Nice comfy decor. Looking forward to seeing it covered in snow again this year :-)

The most delicious risotto I've ever tasted and my husband said the roast pork was very good too. I don't know if there are different staff on a Sunday but we had excellent service. Nice to see a couple of veggie options that are not the usual pasta dishes. Bit pricey for a pub lunch but worth it. Atmosphere was... More

We've been going to this place since it was completely refurbished a few years ago and this is something of an overview. The food is generally pretty good, and often very good indeed. The problems seem to us to all be about the staff and (it follows) the management. Problems have included reservations being taken but then no room in... More

We had lunch in the William Bray, and the food was excellent. The barmaid, too, worked very hard, but her male companion was definitely slow to serve. The biggest problem, though, was the high ceiling and the large open room, so there was no atmosphere. I noticed that the owners had suspended lights and other decorations, perhaps to soften the... We went to the William Bray with a couple of friends ona a Saturday night. We agreed to meet in the bar first. Unfortunately the barman did not acknowledge our presence and carried on with what he was doing - not a good start. The tables in the restaurant are really sticky, not just our table but the one next... More

We drove out to experience a bit of village life over the weekend. We were greeted with friendly service and great food. The locals were out in force and we doubt whether we would find a table without booking, the hostess quickly sorted us out with a nice table and the food that ordered was simply divine! I will definitely... More

Friends took us for lunch to this venue set in the pretty village of Sheer. We were lucky to get a table as it was Saturday lunchtime & the place was very busy. The snack menu had enough choice to suit any taste but I would have liked to have seen a few more salads. I chose the grilled chicken... More

We had our wedding reception at the William Bray Shere on 26th September 2014. It was totally amazing from start to finish. Nothing was too much trouble for Craig and his lovely staff. We devoured a delicious hog roast and all the trimmings. Our wedding cake was a layered cheese cake decorated with figs, strawberries and herbs. The restaurant was adorned... More

Just back from a snack lunch at William Bray. This used to be the down-market pub in the village, but how times have changed! A very smart venue with excellent comfortable outside areas. As it was Sunday, no bar snacks were available, which is a common problem in pubs around this area on a Sunday. However we were able to... More
