Good find

Visited Saturday lunchtime for a quick drink. Half the pub is set up as a dining area, the other side more of a bar. Decor is nice, dark walks but still felt bright and airy and a lovely warm fire on a cold day. Clientele a mixture of walkers and more smartly dressed diners. We didn't eat but the... read more

We arrived without a booking towards the end of service on a Saturday lunchtime. We were unable to get a table in the main restaurant but after a short wait managed to get a table in the bar area. I would definitely recommend booking a table in advance as on previous visits the restaurant has always been busy. Service was... More

Had dinner at the William Brae last night, wonderful! Greeted personally at the bar by name! This was our first time and although the bar wasn't busy at 7pm we were impressed! The meal was excellent with the waitress friendly and informative when we asked what certain dishes contained. The dessert especially fine! We will definitely visit again.

Good mix between a smart restaurant and comfy bar. Both stylish and nicely laid out. The restaurant is spacious, and the food and service are very good.

With new owners and a new lick of paint in the bar and restaurant we returned to check out the WB after abandoning it for a couple of years due to poor food and appalling service. Sad to say it's not working yet. The menu is reduced which is a good idea but the food is so very bland ,... More

I visited this establishment with my husband and a fellow couple on a Sunday evening beginning of December 2015. As we have all been to this restaurants/pub on previous occassions we were all very keen to return following having very positive experiences. This is no longer the case!!! We will not be returning!!! We have always been a positive advocate... More

Dear Carrie-Anne, I came across your review today and am sorry that your last visit to The William Bray was disappointing. I absolutely understand how important service is and to be honest, with the run up to Christmas, we were experiencing some issues with new staff and their inexperience. For 2016, we are hiring more experienced staff and with regards... More

It wouldn't have taken very much to elevate the WB, let down mostly by its charming but amateurish service, from very good to truly excellent. Unfortunately, the recent change of ownership looks to be taking things in the opposite direction. The previous, adventurous if occasionally misfiring, menu has been replaced by pub standards from a decade or two ago. This... More

Visited this pub for food after walking in the area a couple of times, changed from traditional food to more of a gastropub style. That is fine but as a dog walker not a welcome change, that said the staff were very friendly and attentive on this occasion for Sunday lunch. The food was good, served on hot plates and... More

Was very surprised when we visited this place, had not been warned that it had changed hands, so went expecting my favourite bar snack to find it was no longer on the menu. The place has some new furniture in the bar area, all the old motor sport pictures and photos have all gone, very sparse. Food good although only... More
