A delight!

We went here for Sunday Lunch. I honestly can't fault a thing. The food was amazing, hot and plenty of it. The is a lovely open fire and it's really cosy.

We had an excellent meal here. A great atmosphere, wide menu and big portions of quality food. An excellent range of real ales served by friendly staff.

It's a very friendly pub with a roaring fire. Food was excellent and not what you expect. Staff couldn't do enough for you. Defo worth a visit.

Thank goodness they stayed open late enough for us to have a meal after a very long day. Fish and chips were excellent as was shepherd's pie. Better though was being in a true British pub along with a couple and their dog. Server was chatty and helpful.

If you want a traditional pub with good British food at a reasonable price, then look no further, it's not haute cuisine, but it's tasty, filling and well presented. There was no live music that day but I think we were unlucky judging from the posters. Tourists are genuinely welcome here. Two of the party had fish and chips and... More

An easily walk from the Ashcroft B&B, walk thru the low door and you're in the bar. A couple of dogs will likely great you, and there is a warm log fire and hand pulled pints to keep you happy. The food is good. Try the steak and ale pie. A very pleasant way to end a day of hiking.

We arrived for lunch. As they were just opened, pub was empty. Cozy fire pit, and nice decoration. Specials were not available, but menu was nice enough, and we enjoy our sandwiches and nice home made chips. Quiet place, and a little bit more "updated" than other places in Haltwishtle, where we won't able to pay by card.

Just a few pubs in Haltwhistle and the Black Bull is local but welcomes tourists. A warm place to drink a pint after a hard day of hiking. Good selection of local ales.

We recently stayed in the local area & went for a drive in search of somewhere to eat. It was a lucky accident that we found the black bull. On arrival the staff were very friendly, and egar to help. We took a seat by the open fire with our drinks, whilst looking at the menu. The atmosphere is that of... More

Pretty standard pub grub and really nice staff We were recommended this place as it is dog friendly. An old style pub with open fire and a nice atmosphere full of locals. Really worth a visit. We will be back
