We had popped in with friends for lunch the owner is friendly as was the bar maid. Downside was the toilet s no hot water and no hand towels . And then sadly no food that day. No doubt it stocks good beers and could be a good local on the day we visited it was a poor show sorry... More

We loved this little pub. The owner and his dog are both welcoming. The pints are cold and the food is pretty good, too. Portions are ample and tasty.

The Black Bull was just a short walk from where myself and my 3 friends were staying. We're backpackers who came for a day to walk a bit of Hadrian's Wall and our host recommended the Black Bull when we asked where we could find a good dinner. It was crowded, a typical Saturday night. The fare was great, atmosphere... More

It is easy to walk past this pub as it is set back from the main road. It's a small pub with some nice beer, however the food is very good with the steak and ale pie is to die for. One word of warning, there are some low ceilings in this pub.

We were passing through and decided to eat here as a couple on Sunday tea time, husband had the steak pie chips and veg and I had the beef baguette with mushroons, onions chips and gravy. Wow it was fantastic, I even commented on I think its the best I have had in a long time. Beer selection good however... More

Black Bull Pub: in Haltwhistle. A real traditional English pub where you mix with the locals, other tourists, etc. You can sit outside or enjoy the nice pub atmosphere inside. We had the Steak Ale pie and it was fabulous. The 2nd night we returned since we only wanted a light supper - had their cajun tomato soup with bread... More

Let me start by saying that I felt obligated to open this account just so I could warn other potential patrons before they make a mistake. I very rarely have issue at restaurants but this was an exception. All started off well, there was just a bit of a wait – about an hour. Our group decided that was fine;... More

Wonderfully cozy atmosphere, great pub food. The friendly owner has one of the most extensive selections of single malt whiskeys and will make excellent suggestions. You can't go wrong with his recommendations. But the resident star is George, the resident German Shepherd hangs out by the fireplace --don't leave without saying hi!
