Just a few pubs in Haltwhistle and the Black Bull is local but welcomes tourists. A warm place to drink a pint after a hard day of hiking. Good selection of local ales.

We recently stayed in the local area & went for a drive in search of somewhere to eat. It was a lucky accident that we found the black bull. On arrival the staff were very friendly, and egar to help. We took a seat by the open fire with our drinks, whilst looking at the menu. The atmosphere is that of... More

Pretty standard pub grub and really nice staff We were recommended this place as it is dog friendly. An old style pub with open fire and a nice atmosphere full of locals. Really worth a visit. We will be back

Fairly standard pub grub. Although its piping hot and plenty of it. Enjoyed reading some of the books available. Useful as service a little slow.

This is a "picture - perfect" English Pub. A wide selection of brews to taste. The service and food were excellent.

All home cooked and reasonably priced. The staff were very welcoming as were the locals, we had a really lovely evening and will be returning. I highly recommend you... More

Great lunch at this small but really quaint pub. The owner had recently purchased it after retiring from Wales. A lot of great beers on tap and a really friendly staff. Had a nice family atmosphere during the day and a great place to have lunch between spots on the Hadrian's Wall tour.

Outstanding food - best presentation for pub food. Try the steak and ale pie. Worth waiting for a table.

You can't get any more pub-by than the Black Bull. Built into a 12th century pub, this gives the typical visitor or local the typical pub experience, complete with the type of food your would expect at a pub. I really wouldn't go here for the food, but the ambiance is par none and the staff was very friendly. If... More
