We were a group of 6 family members that visited this pub. I am not a pub person so wasn't really looking forward to it, but I was wrong to be reticent. The food is of a good standard and the portions huge. The staff we met were friendly and helpful. It is good for the standard you would expect... More

I do like this place, it has a very nice, chilled out atmosphere. I have been there on 4 occasions; three times for a meal and once for just a drink. On 2 occasions I have found the owner abrupt and rude. For example the second time I went, I asked him a simple question; "is it ok to sit... More

As locals we would visit this establishment more regularly. However our experience has generally not been positive. The food is variable, usually average but never outstanding. Our biggest gripe is their 'take it or leave it' attitude to customer service. Numerous examples, but I'll just mention a recent one. My wife ordered a fresh melon starter and a spaghetti bolognese... More

I wouldn't normally take the time to write a review after a drink at a pub, however on this occasion I felt it necessary. This is the second occasion we have been to this venue in recent weeks and the first occasion it was really nice. On this occasion (evening 21st Aug) my parter and I felt intimidated, worried and... We went for a meal here on Monday night with a group of visitors from Denmark, after having been marched out and barred from Tiger Tiger at Gunwharf for complaining about atrocious food. What a difference a day makes. The young staff were attentive, the food was absolutely first class. We had a 3course meal for £20, and what a... More

Once again I left speechless, hence the review!! A group of friends and I visited the pub for a group night out, for a few beers and some food. On arrival we were shown to our seats and offered the menu. It soon became apparent that the menus given were no use as the specials board(s), yes multiple, were scattered... More

I booked a table yesterday evening at the Jolly Roger to celebrate my sister inlaw's birthday which was the day before but but she had been in hospital after giving birth to my niece on Tuesday. There were 12 adults and 3 babies and one child in our party. We all sat down in extended dining area by around 5.45... More

I didn't realise that pubs like this were still around. When you pay £55 for a family lunch and get such terrible food & service I wonder how they survive. It doesn't seem that I'm alone looking at recent reviews. We visited today and sat outside in sun. We had a Burger, Fish & Chips, Chicken Nuggets & Tapas. With... More

Visited here with 5 work colleagues last night. We were all out for a good social evening of eating and drinking. Most of us were tipsy and we were quite loud and probably a bit "challenging" shall we say for the waitresses, but it was nothing more than friendly banter. Anyway, on to the review... This place is a typical... More

We thought we would give the Jolly another try after a couple of years of not wanting to go back. Big mistake! We ate there tonight and were totally disappointed. We started with bread and olives. We have never eaten uneven cut white bread and butter for dipping! The olives were very oily which were quite messy to eat with... More
