Lunch time visit with my partner. Light lunch so ordered from the starter menu; moules, deep fried white bait, calamari and tapas for one. Apart from the moules it was all dreadful. White bait soggy, calamari over fried and dry, tapas just awful. Bread was dry too. Partner said the moules were OK... read more

I booked in good time as this venue is very popular as it turned out this was wise as no more booking could be taken on this day. On arrival we were shown to our table by a very pleasant young lady. the table was set for the exact number that we had booked for. nine persons including one child.... More

this is one of my favourite places to eat , the food is great, as it the ale, wine and atmosphere .. not cheap. but excellent value. I suggest booking as it is popular.

We visited with a large party and were treated very well. The staff were friendly and helpful with our large rowdy group.

It was a Saturday and we felt inspired to visit The Jolly Roger for a pub lunch on a lovely spring day. We were not disappointed. Service was prompt and the food delicious. We had the lamb moussaka and the minty lamb shank with vegetables and new potatoes. No complaints concerning the latter but the aubergine in the moussaka was... More

We have visited a few times and have had a good meal. We find the staff very helpful and it helps my husband they have a Gluten free menu as he is a Coeliac. At the Jolly Roger he can also have a sweet. Good for family get togethers as they have such a varied menu, as we are a... More

This is my second visit in the past few months, and I did not find the food as good as the first visit. I selected from the special menu and had tomato and pepper soup followed by crab cakes. The soup was good tasty but a little too salty, the bread roll was quite small and a bit hard. The... More

The Jolly Roger dates back a few years into the history of the waterfront and the explosives yards and armament depots. Now in the midst of a vibrant urban area the Jolly Roger is an excellent venue for a good value pub meal with some excellent choices that offer a much better dining and drinking experience that the very popular... I've eaten in here a few times. The food is great but I find the place a little dull. People who use this place can be a little posh and seem to have no idea how to enjoy themselves

Booked a table for valentines night, my husband went down during the day to ask them to leave my pressie on the table, it was lovely. The food was nice, my steak was gorgeous, we didn't have a choice of sides with it, it was a plate of chips. Spoilt it a bit. The service was good. The tapas platter... More
