Sat in the window over looking hard way and Portsdown Hill. Was greeted by the female staff very friendly they were too. One of the ladies came over and took our order, as you can imagine not everyone want the same but she was very patient. She also came over with a large jug of ice cold water. Then the... More

Quiet meal with my wife for her birthday, not a big fixed menu choice but large board by bar for specials. Prices reasonable and food taste and quantity good. Lovely view from the bar across Portsmouth Harbour. Attentive service but not obtrusive. A nice evening and well worth another visit.

Are here on boxing day, taking advantage of the unexpected offer for a three course lunch for about £10 for our kids. Varied menu, decent portions. Prices on main menu/a la carte rather high for quality. Lovely friendly service, warm welcome. Nice atmosphere in the bar area if you wanted a drink - again drink prices on the higher end.

Not having visited for some 40 years it was a pleasant surprise to visit the very much changed Jolly. Last time I visited there was not a dedicated restaurant area, the extension was great with views over the harbour towards Portchester. The choice of two course lunch for £6.95 was great value. I had the scotch broth followed by ham... More

Came here for a few years ago for a meal vowed never to go back as we were served a black forest gateau that had fresh cream that was off on it. The chef must have had no sense of smell whilst dishing it up. Today was my first day off over xmas period so went for a walk along... More

Booked for Christmas Day. Had to pay upfront which was fine. Arrived at time booked. Ended up having to ask where our starter was 45 minutes later! No one came over and asked if we wanted any drinks;we had to ask someone. Most of the food ok. Some potatoes hard though. One turkey dinner came out without stuffing and chipolata... More

We had Christmas dinner at the jolly 3 years ago. That's why we went back. Never again, the roast spuds were rock hard, the desert bland and tasteless. One redeeming point, the waitresses worked there socks off.

We had a pre-booked party of five visit here just recently. Very good value for money. Food is well cooked and presented and comes to the table in timely manner. Would definitely re-visit.

Went with friends to a quick lunch, not disappointed. Portions were large next time I will just have starters. Service was good, even though they were very busy, but felt they could have spent a bit more time just cleaning the tables. Felt things were just a little bit pricey.
