Lunchtime in summer is always busy, the food & real ales are really good value, and out of season the pub is still a friendly comfy pub, even if you're not a regular. They welcome dogs in one part of the bar, where you can eat, which is handy if you're out for the day with your canine friend!

This pub has an excellent selection of well kept real ales, including Greene King IPA. Reasonably priced pub grub. Good play area for children and fantastic views towards Hastings.

We used to live in this area but had not been to this pub for 30+ years. So for my birthday we picked up my 94yr old aunt from Rye, "she missed not having a roast meal", this did not disappoint, everything was excellent. She wants now to take some others in her block of flats to lunch. We all... More

We called for lunch after a recommendation by the owners of the holiday accommodation we were staying in. We received very friendly service and the food was lovely all homemade. We found the decoration fascinating, the ceiling is covered in dried hops and the walls contained lots of things to do with Robin Hood. Although there was a large party... More

A friend and I ate here at the beginning of August and had a very pleasant meal. Decor a little dated but if you want good food would recommend a visit.

Firstly after ten minutes from ordering we were told there would be a delay, we accepted that and ordered a bowl of chips to keep us going. Our food actually arrived 65 minutes later. My friends were reasonably happy with theirs, but when mine was delivered I was told that the salad was scant, but they could give me extra... More

Called in for lunch on route to Eastbourne - fantastic friendly pub and people. Food is great. Auction of eggs, flowers and homemade cakes was taking place with proceeds going to local charities. Eddie the barman is the best - what a character!! Wish there was a pub like this near my house.

We went ate an evening meal at this pub on Sat night. The staff were extremely friendly, the menu was extensive, and there was a decent children's menu too. All of us enjoyed delicious pies/steaks/bacon/chicken nuggets! It was so good that we booked for Sunday lunch the following day and that didn't disappoint either. Would highly recommend.

Went for lunch on a weekday. Found very friendly staff, great selection of beers, and a very welcoming atmosphere. The menu was very varied, from sandwiches and standard pub meals to some more interesting choices. I had the duck breast which was really well cooked, with a delicious sauce, but it was let down a little by the bland standard... More

We went to this pub today and even though they were fully booked, they managed to squeeze the 3 of us in for a quick sandwich! The food was great, service even better would definitely go back!
