Varied, fun, inventive pintxos!

A great variety of pintxos, enjoyed them all! Worth the visit since it is a stone throw from San Sebastián. The garlicky brusquetta with Serrano Ham a must try!

The pintxos are good, however it's not one of the best bars. There are better choices in the area. It's always overcrowded.

Despite the fact we speak no Spanish, the waiter was very friendly and we had a lovely dinner on the terrace. It was crowded with a very nice atmosphere, excellent pintxos with a large variety, good wine. I loved it!

Our first experience with Gran Sol was a late visit to a bar on a Sunday evening. The area inside and outside were packed with people enjoying pintxos. We ordered enough to share amongst the four of us and went back for more! Our overall favorite was theJaizkibel, a large mushroom cap stuffed with cream cheese, ham and topped with... More

This is a lovely little wine bar in the centre of the town. The staff, all young men, were very friendly and helpful. We went in early - 7pm - after a long drive through France. We were the first in. Meals were not served until 7.30 so we opted for some of the delicious looking tapas displayed on the... More

With a walking tour group we had txakoli and pintxos that were the best in Hondarribia. Don't know how easy it would be to explain need for gluten free without our wonderful Spanish speaking guides but chef/staff at Gran Sol provided me with excellent gluten-free pintxos, so good in fact that others in group asked for my selection too. Go... More

Prize-winning pintxos in a typical taberna. Small, so it might be crowdy if you don't go in early, but both waiters behind the bar are really nice and helpful.

Very slow and rainy in Hondaribbia in November. We felt like soccer was way more important than customers. Only stayed for a drink and ate somewhere else.

We ate here twice on our recent trip to Northern Spain on the recommendation of the owner of our hotel - it was fantastic! We don't speak much Spanish but the bar staff knew their stuff. We had some great pintxos along with some very good wine. It was a bit daunting as this is a real locals venue but... More

After visiting 15 pintxos bars this one was the best! Gran Sol in la frontera with Francia is for me the best one in Basque. Special taste, not to expensive, day and night, by busline 21 or 27 from San Sebastian. Enjoy. Best regards, Rob and Hein Huijbers
