Dinner in an orchard

Healthful, delicious food in beautiful surroundings. Situated in the middle of an orchard, the restaurant makes its own juices, jams, etc.

We got married here and it was much better than we could ever imagine! The scenery is the best, the food is the tastiest and most well presented, the cider is world class and the people too! :) THANK YOU!!

This place is a gem. A stunning location on a balcony overlooking the fjord and distant snow capped mountains. The cider is made on site and tastes sublime. The biggest surprise for me though was the amazing local food! Everything was so fresh, tasty and served on small tapas style plates. The whole experience really made this a must do... More

We loved this place so much that we had dinner here twice at our recent trip to Balestrand. This place is situated inside an orchard and they create their own apple cider which we tried and was quite good. The views overlooking the fjord are stunning. The food is a collection of tapas from Turkish, Mediterranean and local selection. We... More

Good but expensive. The restaurant is nice and gave a nice view of the fjord. We ordered a couple of mezes which, according to the menu, should be 3-5 mezes for a full meal. I think 2-3 is enough for a full meal. I tried also the Pear Juice it tasted really good. But 50 NOK for a 0.33l juice... More

We had a memorable meal at Ciderhuset. This restaurant is situated in an orchard, and as well as producing fine food, the owners produce fine cider and other fruit drinks, both alcoholic and otherwise. Viewsfrom the restaurant are spectacular looking out over the fjiord. The menue is tapis style, that is, small plates for sharing. The ingredients for the dishes... More

This was recommended by our hotel in Balestrand and is an unusual and stylish place to end the day, being a cider apple growing and cider-making farm. The dining room is a spacious conservatory with astonishing (running out of superlatives for Norway views) vista across the sweet garden and orchard to the far side of the Sognefjord. The evening menu,... More

The food here is fresh and nicely presented. Views are beautiful and service, though slow, is friendly and pleasant. It is basically tapas style and we ordered baked feta cheese, vegetable pies, smoked salmon, cucumber dip and potatoes. All tasted good. Portions were tiny though and, while I don't mind paying $10 for two hand made and beautifully presented vegetable... More

We ate dinner here in June 2015 - actually the first night they opened for the season. The food was quite good for the most part - especially the tapas. The meatballs and dates are both excellent. This was a nice surprise and change from the Scandinavian dishes we were accustomed to on our trip. The service was a bit... More
