It was recommended this restaurant by a friend of mine and what a surprise! Definitely one of the best meals we had in the Chianti region of Italy..we had great ravioli and excellent lamb chops. Very friendly staff. Although it’s not cheap, it is worth a visit.

We stayed at the beautiful Castello di Meleto near Gaiole and were recommended this Tuscan ristorante. Castagnoli is a cute little town with the main feature this restaurant, which means the Cellar at Castagnoli. The owner Max is a wonderful man very passionate about his cooking and he lovingly described how they use fresh local ingredients to bring out the... More

One (or rather two!) of the best meals I've ever had. The welcome on arrival, the seating, environment, service, wine selection (and advice) were all fantastic. The food was awesome, I will be going back there! Of the places we ate in while in Chianti, this was far and away the best. Price was reasonable too. Excellent!!

Having read all the positive feedback on TA we were eager to discover that restaurant. The location and the scenery is outstanding. Unfortunately nor the dishes we ordered neither the wines me our expectations. Cannot recommend to take the extra tour

Very nice place. Good service and atmosphere. The food was great. I would definitely recommend the bistecca. It seems that, as a rule, tourists in Tuscany have dinner a bit early. We arrived at 9pm and most of the clients didn't take too long to leave. Maybe it's a good tip for the ones without reservation. Well, if you visit... More

As we were staying in Rocca di Castagnoli, we thought we would try the attached restaurant. We loved it. Everything was perfect, from the food, to the staff and the ambience. The food was quite inventive, a nice change from the traditional pizza/pasta type restaurants. Highly recommended. We ate here 3 times over 5 days as it really was the... More

A rare find, situated a few km up the hills from Gaiole, this is adjoining a hotel. Booking usually required- always a good sign! Great ambience, met by owner who advises on the menu, dishes of the day, and great explanation of the ingredients. Main courses around €20, but with most ingredients locally sourced, and this well cooked, it is... More

Booked here based on Tripadvisor reviews and found this to be the very best food in all of our holiday around Italy (and we ate at some really good restaurants). The chef is a perfectionist who combines ingredients to maximise the flavours in his very inventive cooking. The freshly made bufalo cheese with garden-grown tomatoes were sublime and everything from... More
