The host of our B&B suggested this place, so we gave it a try. We had two pizzas (one prosciutto, one ricotta/spinaci), a large salad, large acqua frizzante, and mezzo of red wine for 27 euros. If we had room for more food after all that, we would have tested the chocolate pizza that our neighbors (two pleasant italian dudes)... More

We had a local recommendation to try this restaurant. There were lots of tables in the alley way, so we sat outside. Our waiter spoke good English and helped us through the menu. My wife had a mixed fish dish which she throughly enjoyed, I had a pizza and tend to agree with other reviewers that it was OK, but... More

We found this pizzeria on our second night and ended up going back there three times in the space of a week. Set in a little alleyway, it's a traditional-looking Sicilian pizzeria with a very extensive menu. The staff were very helpful and friendly and they have menus in English for those whose Italian isn't quite up to scratch. The... More

The location in the heart of Modica Bassa makes this restaurant a great venue !. The vast choices of pizza is quite extraordinary and the fact that most of the diners were Modicani assures the visitor that La Contea is an authentic Sicilian pizza place ! The staff is most courteous ; the food is freshly prepared and the prices... More

Outdoor seating in a tucked away pedestrian street, not too far from the duomo. The pizza I tried, the Pachino, has the local cherry tomatoes, fresh buffalo mozzarella, prosciutto, and basil. It is the best pizza I've had in recent memory, I think mostly due to the freshness of the tomatoes which were in season when I visited. The local... More

We were taken there by our Sicilian friend who said it was his favourite restaurant and we were not disappointed. The interior of the restaurant is classy, even the sink in the toilet is classy!I liked the choice of pizzas and the fact you could order small or large. I ate every bit of my pizza with porcini mushrooms on... More

The pizzeria is set in nice old rooms and the service was good. However the pizzas were average or in fact poor by Italian standards. It was recommended to us by a young receptionist at our hotel and the demographic in the restaurant was definitely young people, who all seem to have a plate of French Fries for a starter... More

Nothing to say to the service and the restaurant. However pizza was average. It's not the best pizza I've ever had. Toppings are of good quality but the pasta in itself isn't great. Plus to my half gave a bad sleep.

We went here twice in our one week stay. The pizzas were great, the main courses and salads were pretty good too. We were a chaotic family of ten including some very small kids and we were seated in a roomy corner and had a very relaxing meal. The waiters were unobtrusive and helpful, not gushing, which was fine.

Dinner at La Contea the night before Easter was a great experience. Full of locals, families and a few tourists we had some of the best pizza ever. Incredible dough and a huge selection of fresh toppings. An attentive waiter who spoke English was definetly an asset. To be recommended!
