An enjoyable evening

We had a local recommendation to try this restaurant. There were lots of tables in the alley way, so we sat outside. Our waiter spoke good English and helped us through the menu. My wife had a mixed fish dish which she throughly enjoyed, I had a pizza and tend to agree with other reviewers that... read more

This is a good pizza restaurant that was recommended to us by our local friends. It's relaxed and it was a convenient place for us to eat, especially on a Monday night when nany other places were closed. Highly recommended!

We'd been given this recommendation by a local when we were seeking shelter from a estorm and understood this place to be a local favourite. It appears to consist of a number of interlocking rooms and quickly filled up with locals. We had an antipasto rustico that was good as was a vegetarian pizza that was very burnt but quickly... Apparently this is locals' favorite type of restaurant, with a low-key interior in a narrow alley. Sometimes they also serve lunch (maybe on an irregular base, I don't know).

Very popular pizzeria, cheap with friendly staff in a simple genuine ambiance, ten euro per person. Not to miss.

The host of our B&B suggested this place, so we gave it a try. We had two pizzas (one prosciutto, one ricotta/spinaci), a large salad, large acqua frizzante, and mezzo of red wine for 27 euros. If we had room for more food after all that, we would have tested the chocolate pizza that our neighbors (two pleasant italian dudes)... More

We found this pizzeria on our second night and ended up going back there three times in the space of a week. Set in a little alleyway, it's a traditional-looking Sicilian pizzeria with a very extensive menu. The staff were very helpful and friendly and they have menus in English for those whose Italian isn't quite up to scratch. The... More

The location in the heart of Modica Bassa makes this restaurant a great venue !. The vast choices of pizza is quite extraordinary and the fact that most of the diners were Modicani assures the visitor that La Contea is an authentic Sicilian pizza place ! The staff is most courteous ; the food is freshly prepared and the prices... More

Outdoor seating in a tucked away pedestrian street, not too far from the duomo. The pizza I tried, the Pachino, has the local cherry tomatoes, fresh buffalo mozzarella, prosciutto, and basil. It is the best pizza I've had in recent memory, I think mostly due to the freshness of the tomatoes which were in season when I visited. The local... More

We were taken there by our Sicilian friend who said it was his favourite restaurant and we were not disappointed. The interior of the restaurant is classy, even the sink in the toilet is classy!I liked the choice of pizzas and the fact you could order small or large. I ate every bit of my pizza with porcini mushrooms on... More
