This is the first restaurant you see when you come up the steps from the port parking. The food is basic and some of it is smothered in sauce that according to my 19 year old daughter made it inedible. I had a nice swordfish steak but the rest of the meal was poor.

As you come from the Gallipoli beach, as you come up the steps this is the first restaurant you see. The view is great (but then again there are many other restaurants around that have the same great view), so you may be tempted to try it out. Don't. The food is average, the service rather poor and the prices... More

Great town good location but that's where it ends for this restaurant. Menu limited which if the food is good is not a problem but this was not the case. The starter was huge chunks of batter but no trace of calamari or prawns. The main pasta meal which was supposed to be fish based was tasteless in the extreme-.we... More

Is a good restaurant. better to call it a "trattoria" ( though elegant enough): very good pasta dishes and fish cooked in the local way .It overlook the sea that means a beautiful sight but also a windy corner. Unusual the way they cut the grilled sea bass ( three/ four horizontal chops) but anyway foods is good and the... More

That was one the best see food I've ever had. All the food was fresh and tasty. Waitress were very great and fast and smiling. The restaurant is based in old part of the town next to the harbor and you can see sunset from the outdoor seating. I really enjoyed the evening, food and everything.

Simple traditiobal local recepies with excellent fresch ingredients. In Gallipoli you cant go wrong with fresh fish catched minutes before right infront of this resturant. Great antipasti couples with home made seafood pasta. Had a memorable family celebration here and definetly a come back.

We were warmly welcomed by the owner who provided excellent recommendations of seasonal foods and specialty dishes of the day. As the weather was perfect we opted to sit outside and the array of dishes, both vegetables, seafoods and pasta were exceptionally fine and varied. The regional wines were also delicious.

We stopped here for lunch and ordered the eggplant and peppers as an appetizer and two of the fish dishes on the menu for our main course. The fish was fresh and well-prepared. The interior of the restaurant was appointed with maritime memorabilia and the background music, soft so that one could carry on a conversation, was USA American hits... More

We are just back from our first trip to the Salentina peninsula. Despite the unseasonal cool showery weather, we were enchanted... not least with Gallipoli which must be one of its most beautiful towns. We were lucky enough to park neat the Trattoria Portolano which looked ideal for lunch. As London 'foodies' I like to think we are discriminating but... More

Be careful if the host says that he is bringing you a little sample of his "antipasto" because the portion is so large, you won't be able to stomach anything else. The food is delicious and the atmosphere great.
