We arrived in Cassel around mid afternoon - too late for lunch but too early for dinner so we were looking for a snack. La Table du Meunier looked good so we wondered in to find a warm welcome. We ate crepes and drank too much wine which doubtless helped our enjoyment; planning to go back for a proper meal... More

Ever since our dinner at "La Table du Meunier", we have been returning regularly to have a beer, and enjoy the terrace that offers a nice overview of Cassel's central place, Grand Place. When you arrive around lunchtime and only wish to have a drink - and not a meal -, the staff will help you similarly friendly. This cannot... More

We chose from a 23 euro three course menu. The food was good but more expensive than a similar selection in UK. The staff were very efficient and entertaining. The surroundings are good. As there is quite a lot of choice in Cassel we probably would not go here again until we had tried the other places. However we were... More

A wet start to my birthday. We drove to Cassel intending to re-visit the Foch, but were early for lunch so walked around.A smiling lady writing a board outside La Table caught my eye and we decided to inspect it.A good decision and we went inside. Kir royal [of course] then grilled and flambéed gambas followed by escalope de veau in... More

You would not believe that the new owner of this restaurant had only been there four weeks, the service and care they took with all they did was so good. The owner/chef so loves to cook it comes over so much in his food, and his wife love to look after front of house. It was a pleasure to go... More

La Table du Meunier is located at the central place of the hilltop neighbourhood of Cassel, where most things in this little city happen. We came for the evening meal, which was only modest, as was the service - the trip to the city, and walking around had been the major rewards.

Four of us went in for dinner on Friday evening as it was one of the few places in town that had customers in sight. We were given a friendly welcome and shown straight to a table. Good variety of fixed price menus available, starting at 14 euros and going all the way up to 33 euros. A large a... More

This is a late posting but my daughter and I dined at this restaurant last August. We go to Northern France for a few days each year mainly visiting Great War sites. On this occasion we had been to Ypres and then to a football match at Oostende. As it was our last night and because we love France so... More

Popped in for a late lunch. This was no problem for the proprietor and staff. Good varied menu,(wife a non red-meat eater) so she can be choosie. Did not try the wine, but accepted the offer of an excellent "Christmas" beer. Wife had one of the best fruit juices she has ever had! (apricot I think) Friendly attentive service with... More

It's France and a restaurant that was busy on the first sunny Sunday for months so we expect slow service but this beat that! Good choice of food on set menus and reasonably priced but the service really was poor with one waiter to about 25 tables outside. We never did get napkins or salt/pepper! (all the French speakers did!)... More
