Gastronomic delight

Why Not restaurant is a cozy place to eat along the boulevard in Dumaguete City. Its buffet dinner is something to look forward to every time I am in Dumaguete. Its roasted spare ribs... Ooooohhh!... Mouth-watering, yummy!

While the restaurants in Dumaguete that serve Filipino food are aplenty and acheap, sometimes, one can have too much of it. The place looks dark and musty, with very old-fashioned and badly done decor and wait staff incongruously dressed like Swiss maidens, these touches are unforgivable, because the place serves good Swiss-German fare, plus some Thai and Japanese additions. Their... More

Our group of friends lunch out on special occasions; a birthday, a welcome or despedidia lunch or just to get together! We decided to try out the dishes at Why Not Le Chalet Restaurant and we thoroughly enjoyed the Seafood Jambalaya, Greek Salad and Seafood Pad Thai.... We've gone back for repeat lunches... and its one of our favorite restaurants... More

Can't quite put the restaurant to a category side the food ranges from steaks to schnitzel to filipino food. Though this was the most expensive place we ate during our stay in Dumaguete, the price is cheap due to its serving size. The Seafood Michelle soup which is cream of broccoli with 3 whole scallops and 5 pieces of shrimp... More

As title suggested, this place was terrible in terms of food quality. The meat, pork, chicken, beef all tasted the same;they were simply too over cooked and were solid hard. When we asked if they always cook their meat like that, the answer from the waitress was, "you did not specify how you like your meat cooked." Speechless.

We ordered the seafood mornay, some spring rolls and the kinilaw (sashimi salad in a spicy vinegar dressing). It was beautifully prepared and far far better than we expected from anywhere in Dumaguete. Excellent service and really delicious food. Superb value for money. We will definitely come again if are back in town. Not sure about the bar, but the... More

Great place to hangout viewing the people and the ocean (5* for that). Prime spot on the boulevard. Inexpensive beer and also a disco at night. It is one of the most popular destinations in Dumaguete. I just don't like the spices they put on there food. Their potatoes are some of the best in town. The spices makes your... More

I live nearby and when i desire very good soup, a deli sandwich, or to purchase cold cuts, french bread, rye bread, and imported from Germany foodstuffs, I go to Why Not. The last visit, I wanted something light to eat, as it was about 12:30A.M. on Sunday morning. I had just competed playing with my jazz band as a... More
