This cafe is busy every day of the year it is open. Most visitors and locals enjoy coffee and food here. At times it is packed!!

My husband and I stopped in here while we were staying near by at the worldmark hotel. We were wondering around after having dinner and we stumbled upon this little gem. By day this quaint little café serves breakfast and coffee and by night this great café turns into a bar. Being from the US we thought this was a... More

I got recommended this cafe when I was at Lake Tekapo. Seeing I was heading to Queenstown via Wanaka, I decided to give this place a try. I have to admit, this place has to be one of the best cafes I have been too in the South Island (I've been to quite a few in my travels). The staff... More

The food was great and we really like sitting there enjoying the stunning view of the Lake Wanaka. Highly recommended for new comers to Wanaka.

Clearly one of the most popular places to see and be seen in Wanaka. We had reasonable coffees and excellent food. Sandwiches are tasty and well-filled and the kumara cakes with spinach and poached eggs was to die for - it felt indulgent AND healthy :) Recommended.

Amazing coffee, but was it worth a 20 min wait at lunch time? Avoid the rush and go in the morn or afternoon when it's quieter. Food is also yum and a lot quicker. Especially the sausage roll

In our stay at Wanaka in early March, we ate only at this restaurant (unusual for us as we like to sample the food in different restaurants). The restaurant offered a delicious choice of beautifully cooked, healthy food; the setting, just across from the lake, was perfect; the atmosphere was casual, friendly and relaxed; and they provided free wifi: in... The cardrona tap beer is delicious. Tried the pizzas for the first time, very impressed! Great spot for a casual catch up. Super friendly staff.

On a busy day Kai is bustling with a great atmosphere. On a not so busy day it's a delight to hang out. The cabinet food is always consistently good, and best bacon roll in town. Evening beers out the front are a social affair, even in winter as they get the outdoor heaters cranking and provide comfy blankets. Pizza... More

It's just across the road from the waterfront so a nice location, and it does all the normal stuff you might want at a small cafe. You can have burgers and all the usual stuff, you can even have steak for breakfast (sounds too much for me and looked too much, though very good), quiche, cakes, whatever, but what completely...
