My husband and I held a brunch for 60 of our closest friends the day after our wedding in Wanaka and we chose the Cardrona Hotel. I had organised this booking well in advance with the previous owner but then new owners took over & I hoped they would be as good as the last! I shouldn't have worried as... More

It was a sunny but cool autumn day when we were driving through to Wanaka from Queenstown and stopped at this very quaint and historic pub for morning tea. It is well worth a visit for the authentic looking interior, roaring open fire and friendly welcoming staff. We had the cream tea and the fresh date scones still warm from... More

My husband and I came here in May 2014 for dinner. It was not particularly busy (being a Wednesday night) and we were seated about 2 minutes after arriving and asking for a table. Our orders were taken quickly and arrived quickly. We shared the crumbed camembert wedges (and wished we had ordered one each - yum), then I had... More

Best cup of coffee I had during our trip of the South Island and it was accompanied by a very tasty cheese scone when we stopped at the Cardrona Hotel for morning tea. I highly recommend a stop here - the grounds are lovely & it is a great place to stop with children.

Probably over-hyped now, although interesting grounds to wander around. The beers are mostly tasteless, commercial beverages, especially so the Cardrona Gold.

This is a lovely pub - as soon as we walked in we were all delightedly saying "wow". The service we received on the night of Monday 21 April was very friendly and efficient from a young woman behind the bar and an incredibly capable pleasant waiter who sounded Irish to me but on enquiry was from Germany. I had... More

What a great little hotel but what a pity about the bar service. Having travelled around NZ for 5 weeks this was our only bad experience. We waited to order a drink for quite a while as the barman reminisced with a couple of English customers about his time in England . As the small talk continued we went out... More

This is a wonderfully cute and quirky little pub with loads of character and charm. It has a warm and friendly atmosphere to enjoy a great meal. It has a beautiful outside area to sit and have a drink. Of the several restaurants we visited over our 10 days in the area this was definitely our favourite.

Take a trip back into settlement times at Hotel Cardrona. Everything up to date for your visit except the early to mid-1900s buildings and furnishings.

We stopped here on the way to Wanaka from Queenstown for lunch. The back garden is a great place to have lunch in on a warm day. The platters were great. The inside of the hotel is interesting and shows the history of the hotel. Accommodation is also available.
