Surprisingly good

For our first lunch in NZ we wanted lamb. We were walking outside browsing the menu and saw that they had lamb. However, we didn't realize that it was for dinner.....After talking with the owner/manager I presume he actually did accommodate us with our order of the lamb rack. Surprisingly... read more

The best place in Wanaka for a quiet drink to sit in the sun & watch the sunset. The food is great, the service brilliant & the staff so helpful & friendly! Don't miss out on Wanaka's best/worst kept secret. Enjoy!

My first impression of Trout was nothing short of amazing. Everything from the smiling happy bar staff to the very welcoming owners made for an extremely enjoyable afternoon and evening. Since then I have frequented the trout bar and am working my way through the menu and every dish has been too quality and can't fault it. I totally reccomend... More

Being taken out by relatives for a nice meal to say thanks for their visit and they asked where to go. Our first choice was closed so we thought we'd give Trout a go. The food was awful, two lamb rack mains ordered by our companions were completely raw inside and fat not rendered/caramelized on the outside (also tasted a... More

We had breakfast here during school holiday trip. Views were great over the Lake, food was average, and service was quite slow.

I have been there in the past and have to say it was very average. But since the new owners Michelle and Graeme have take over it has improved out of sight!!! I called in with my step daughter from London and we sat outside with gorgeous lake views. There were beautiful rugs on each chair in case we felt... More

Good place to have a coffee or meal. Really good coffee. Situated near the lake with beautiful views from the outside and window seating area. Free wifi is also a bonus if you are needing access to your social media, e-mails and the like.

These wonderful Kiwis and their English traditions …. they do up a traditional breakfast a step up from the ones in the States …. eggs, bacon, chiabatta bread, but also grilled tomatoes and mushrooms! A wonderful addition, and healthy too. Trout does it up perfectly, and in a setting overlooking the lake that is hard to beat!
