A home from home

During my visit to Kenya I went to Cape Chesnut several times, and each time I was not disappointed. They boast a varied and exciting menu, comfortable and airy rooms, and above all - excellent service. Cape Chesnut would be my go-to recommendation to anyone visiting Nanyuki.

The menu at Cape Chestnut changes daily showing that the food is freshly cooked, we eat there regularly and on Friday evenings the tapas menu is a delight. If you let the owner know in advance that you have a vegetarian in your party, she goes out of her way to cater for them. Sunday lunches are varied and all... More

We are very glad you enjoyed your meal. Karibu again and perhaps we might have our homemade burgers on the menu which locally are considered to be one of the best North of the Equator. More

Me and a couple of friends stopped by for lunch. The choice was very limited, and for two of my friends that were vegetarian there didn't seem to be that many options. There were maybe 5 or so things to choose from on the menu. I had a salad and a burger, not my most preferred option but ok. Atmosphere... More

We are sorry that you felt that the vegetarians were not catered for. Our menu is small but changes everyday depending on what is available in our garden as we grow all our own vegetables and salads. There is always a very hearty vegetarian soup on the menu and we would suggest asking the waiters to call the chef who... More

Lovely atmosphere to relax. The food was exceptional, one of the best 5 meals I've had in 2 years in Kenya. A very familial atmosphere and the hosts will come out and share local stories and advice, striking up a warm conversation. We went our first night, and didn't bother looking for other places as we passed back through town... More

We have had many happy lunches sitting under the trees at the Cape Chestnut over the years. Always enjoy the food and it is great to catch up with Alpena and Sophie when we visit Kenya. We love the Cape Chestnut

Cape Chestnut is set in tranquil garden with comfortable outdoor seating on a spacious patio. Their food is fresh and creative, and their cappuccinos are delicious. It's a great place to meet friends, or stop for lunch on your way through/to Nanyuki. The only downside is for non smokers as smoking customers are permitted to enjoy their cigarettes on the... We stopped on our way to Shaba, lured by Chestnut in the name, as we were hoping they might be selling chestnuts. That was not the case, we however discovered our favourite spot for a bite and coffee on the road. The place is really cute, with homemade bites which were really tasty and coffee is really, really great! a... More

The warmest welcome & wonderful service. Food is always tasty with the freshest ingredients - much from their organic vegetable garden. The best salads you will have tasted & amazing Laikipia steak. All of this at an incredibly reasonable price.

The Cape Chestnut is a great informal restaurant serving great home-made fare from a small menu. Lots of outdoor eating, both undercover and under the trees.
