Great place for lunch stop over!

Had lunch here on our drive from Nairobi to Samburu. Really enjoyed the quiet setting...food was good, esp. The Pumpkin Soup...best ever! Had a nice chat with co-partner Lily and she was a wealth of info about the area. They have lots of doings at 'The Pond' which sound like fun! I wish them the... read more

It was our first day in Kenya and who would have believed that our guide would take us to an An Irish pub in the Kenya bush? Lilly's Irish Bar & Restaurant at Lilly Pond was a pleasent surprise. Run by an affable Irishman, it encompassed an enclosed bar and a large thatched roof open air dining area. It sits... More

We stopped at The Lily Pond for lunch with our tour group on the way to Samburu. Lunch was great with the best Pineapple upside down cake for dessert. But when we walked in, there were six people passed out next to the bar lying in the grass. I don't mind if you have a wild night, but at least... More

Went for dinner and to see if the Quiz was on on Friday night. May well be the first & last time I visit Lily ponds. No real atmosphere and the music was so loud we couldn't hold a descent conversation. The food was the worst I've had in a very long time; fish & chips with mushy peas, only... More

We stopped here for lunch during a long drive from Nairobi to Samburu, and were surprised with the beauty and quaint atmosphere of this little restaurant! The food was great and the seating area was surrounded by- you guessed it- a huge lily pond! Everything was wonderful, the staff very friendly and welcoming. Had it not been for our Gate... More

This restaurant was the fiirst stop enroute to our first game lodge and what a wonderful surprise! The lily Pond was a wonderful oasis on a long drive after a very long plane ride. The grounds are beautiful and the food was fabulous! My glasses broke on the plane ride over and the airlines "lost" our luggage so I didn't... More

This was one of the stops on an amazing 11 day Gate 1 Kenya tour. The Lily Pond Arts Centre is a hidden gem and if it wasn't one of our stops, I might have missed it if I was traveling on my own. Great service, food, location - a breath of fresh air from some of the other "local"... More

During a tour in Kenya with Gate 1, we stopped at the Lily Pond for lunch. The food was wonderful (great flavor, perfect portion) and the service was fabulous. The waiter even helped me learn some Swahili words and even wrote them down so I could refer back to them. The pond is beautiful and it is a wonderful place... More

This place has changed hands in recent times and the "art" part of the title no longer applies. There are a few pretty ordinary bits and pieces decorating the walls, but in the main, the lily ponds are the prettiest element. The new(isn) Irish owner is what might be called eccentric and is a powerful presence. Some women might find... More

We stopped for Lunch at this lovely secluded restaurant, met by Jerry, who kissed all the women and shaked hands with all the men. They had a lovely meal ready for us, as we were part of a travel group with Gate 1 Travel. What a wonderful meal, best lamb I had the entire trip!! Very friendly hosts and a... More
