We were both late and underdressed for lunch in the Grand Dining Room at The Ahwahnee (even though we tried...) and so we ventured first into the bar and then out onto the terrace, where we found some shade with a friendly and attentive server. We had a reasonably simple lunch from their short menu and accompanied this with a... More

On a hot summer day, this bar saves it. We had manhattans and smoke salmon and trout plate with Caesar salad. It was delicious. You do not have many options when you are in Yosemite National Park.

We stopped here after a hike. The architecture of the hotel is very interesting and the venue is very attractive. It seemed very busy on a Friday afternoon. I am glad we weren't staying here but I loved walking around the foyer and enjoyed my non-alcoholic cocktail. The shop had high class tourist merchandise with price tags to match.

Most people aren't after a hard day hiking in the valley, but if fancy a wonderful bar meal, a cool local ale, and a great view of the valley (a short walk through the grounds and out east along the bike track will give you an awesome view of Half Dome), make sure you end one day seated near the... I posted a review of the Ahwahnee Hotel and mentioned one of the drawbacks to the place was the lack of food choices. Apart from the Dining Room, there's only the Ahwahnee Bar if you didn't bring along your own supplies or grab a bite from the Village. We ended up at the Bar because on the last night of... More

We were here when the dogwoods were in bloom and the weather was perfect for sitting on the veranda and drinking Park Avenues. The bartender, whose name I'm sorry I didn't get, was most excellent. When I'm stressed now I imagine myself right back there, it helps.

The Bar is actually a cafe that serves reasonably priced food with very friendly and attentive servers, located in the historic Ahwahnee Hotel. Having vacationed in Yosemite Valley for over 10 visits now, I can say, hands down, casual dining in the Ahwahnee Bar is the best place for your time and money (with the exception of the Ahwahnee Dining... The bar has no A/C. It was 90+ outside and inside! We had to find someone to wait on us. Not sure we would go back specially when it is hot outside.

Glad we ate there once, but $18.50 for a pastrami sandwich with potato chips is out of our normal budget. It was nice being there sitting outside by the pool and enjoying the beautiful scenery. The splurge was nice it we are not likely to return.

Grab a nice coffee and stroll the grounds outside the bar for a quiet morning. Then if you are a breakfast person try the restaurant for their brunch. The bar in the afternoon seemed full of loud tourists so I found it most pleasant to sit outside with my beer and enjoy the view in relative quiet.
