Because this is located in the Snow Lodge - rather than the Historical Old Faithful Inn - this restaurant often gets overlooked. Because of this I tend to find it less crowded and with much better service. The menu is diverse, and be sure to check the special of the day. The bar is also a nice place, and has... More

We ate at the Obsidian the night we got married near Old Faithful. We had eaten at the Old Faithful Inn dining room and it was pretty good but the Obsidian was the best. They had great Merlot also! I had the lamb chops and my husband had the special chicken dish. Both were wonderful. I would definately eat here... More

There was a large lit fire which gave a lovely atmosphere for evening dining. The food was delicious and the service very good. My husband ordered the special Bison Steak on our first night and it was delivered to our table without any of the accompanying foods that should have been with the 'special' but that error was quickly rectified... We stayed at the Old Faithful Snow Lodge for three nights as part of our Trail of the Wolf package and ate all of our meals in the Obsidian Dining Room. Generally, the meals were OK, but nothing special. For breakfasts we had the buffet (average), Obsidian Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon (excellent), huge pancakes (OK) and the Skier’s Special... I have been visiting Yellowstone since 1998. Xantera has improved the quality of the food in the park immensely. The bison shortribs were five star! The menu is not large, but, there is something for everyone. Salads are fresh and tasty. The breakfast buffet is very good, if somewhat limited.

Since the last time we ate here in the winter, the dining experience has dramatically improved. The menu selection and the quality of the food has greatly improved and the wait staff members are great. I actually looked forward to eating dinner here at the end of each day. The also offered daily specials that were also good (quail one... More

I don't like eating at the hotel I stay at but in winter and especially near Old Faithful there are limited choices. It was therefore a good experience to eat at the restaurant where the food and service is excellent. Prices are not expensive either.

This dining room is the only dining room available at Old Faithful during the winter. It is located in the Snow Lodge, a beautiful building in itself. Numerous windows provide outstanding views. Typical of most restaurants, the quality of the service is dependent on the number of diners and the staff available. My latest visit had too many diners and... More

Overall great experience. We had the hot wings to start with which were excellent! We split the prime rib. Nice size portion for splitting. Atomphere was great! Tables are really close together though. Overall, great dining with good food.

The menu is pretty limited. But you can order food not on the menu. We got cheeseburgers, no problem. Hint, order the kids brownie sundae, a real treat.
