QUickly becoming one of my favorite local watering holes and dinner spots. In the last month, I have been with my spouse, with friends, and solo. The food is consistently excellent -- interesting and delicious. On my most recent visit. Fernando poured me a perfect Margarita and full on fresh ingredient Mojito. Fernando knows what he is doing. Dinner started... More

Always owned by Bazin's, now is renamed "Bazins Next Door". Small place, largely a bar. Wouldn't be an issue if the barkeep didn't crank up the music until you can barely think much less talk in the restaurant. Very good food, especially the appetizers and desserts. Have to be careful with the entrees. Some are prepared in a nouveau Mexican... More

(BTW, it's now called Bazin's Next Door instead of Alegria, ibut it just opened a few months ago and the new name isn't out there totally.)We loved the drinks, and the guacamole was pretty wonderful (with very light and lovely chips), but the food was....a little strange. While the mixed grill was OK, the tortilla soup tasted like "gun metal"... More

I was looking for a Mexican restaurant and found a reference to Alegria. It is no longer open and replaced by a Noveau Mexican restaurant called Bazin's Next Door. It is actually next door to Bazin's but this place is more relaxed atmosphere. It is a popular place and I first decided to sit at the bar. There are about... More

Liked the selection of beer and exotic drinks. But you pay for them. Nothing on tap. Had the Nachos which were extremely good. Right off W&OD trail so was great for a quick stop.

Doubtlessly after much local grumbling about the prospective loss of great Mexican cuisine, The owners of Bazin's have now transitioned Alegria to Bazin's next door with a hybrid bistro menu combining the best if Alegria and Bazin's in a more casual setting and without sacrificing any of the quality. Still serving the best margaritas in town with largely Mexican appetizers,... More

Great Mexican, definitely the best in the DC area. Dishes are tapas-size, so you need to order several to make it a meal. Their margaritas are outstanding, and service is great. The only downside to this restaurant is its size; it's quite small, with the tables very close to each other. The bar is right next to the front door... More

This is, quite possibly, the best Mexican food I've had the in the DC area thus far. The dishes are inventive without straying too far from Mexican cuisine. The flavors are bright and strong without being overpowering. The meats are succulent. Best of all, the food is fresh and it shows. Although it's a bit cramped (and loud during a... More

Great guacamole, small, good atmosphere. Nice evening. No salt/pepper on tables. More up scale than most Mexican restraurants.

Just like the restaurant next door, owned by the same chef, this place is small, with tightly-spaced tables and loud (because of a low ceiling). Get there early because the wait can be long in a small lobby area. The food is fine, although the portions are smaller than usual.
