When we first moved here, we couldnt get into Boca for the time that we needed to dine but having an overseas guest, we needed another good alternative. Nicola's was the first choice that came from all the recommendations. All of us had liked our dinner but I did find my fish a bit on the salty side. Everyone else... More

I used to love this restaurant and have celebrated a number of family and business events there. Once a few years ago we had a wonderful evening occupying the entire mezzanine while George Clooney and Co dined in the wine cellar. However after our most recent visit Nicolas is no longer on my list of Cincinnati favorites. Maybe a busy... More

Visited on August 19 as a special night out treat. Ambiance is perfect: soft lighting, brick walls, wooden beams. Staff was attentive and plentiful, and lets the diner drive the pace of service. At first glance, the menu was daunting, but the server explained everything in detail, and answered all of our questions. Chef offers pairings I've never imagined (think,... More

My boyfriend and I went to Nicola's for our anniversary a while back and absolutely loved it. The food was incredible--definitely some of the best food I have ever had at a restaurant. The service was extremely good, very accommodating and attentive, but not overly so. The meal was wonderful, from beginning to end. I definitely recommend the gnocchi, it... More

Sometimes fancy, expensive food is merely that - fancy and expensive (and usually miniscule). But Nicola's is one of those special places where the food is so incredible, you don't mind paying for it and so delicious that you don't need big portions. My husband brought me here for our 25th anniversary and everything - food, service, ambiance - was... More

We live in Cincinnati and Nicola's is our favorite restaurant in town. The food is terrific and we have never had a bad meal there. Everything is great, from the ambiance in the old converted streetcar repair station, to the service (Nicola does not scrimp on staff, so there are plenty of waiters to attend your needs). The wine list... More

The restaurant is in an area you wouldn't find on a normal drive through Cincinnati. But once you valet (a must) then from the time you walk in until the dessert tray leaves it it a great meal and nice atmosphere. A bit expensive but the presentation and taste is worth it. Very nice atmosphere, friendly staff and good clientele.

We have been to Nicolas numerous times over the years and have had a mediocre experience the last two times (Feb and Aug 2014). We ordered the Yellow Fin tuna appetizer that was somewhat fishy tasting (we eat sushi all the time and this was definitely a more fishy tasting piece of raw fish). For dinner, the lobster and pea... Spectacular meal with outstanding service. From the wonderful fresh melon on prosciutto with an amazing yuzu foam and dehydrated prosciutto just made it so delicious. For the pasta we tried both the Bolognese and the Gnooci. Both out of this world. I had the branzino for my main course served with a marscapone which seemed interesting and was delicious. Highly...
