Fragrant Curries

This was our first time at Ambar India and it was recommended to us by my fiance's sister and her husband who moved to Cincinnati a few months ago. This is their local joint for delicious and fast Indian food and I can see why! I ordered a Lamb Curry dish with coconut milk and raisins (sorry, I... read more

Stopped by on the way to Detroit. Great food and quick service. Friendly staff. There is parking behind the restaurant. Food was good. They can do a better job at the décor of the restaurant.

Aloo Gobi (cauliflower and potatos) was outstanding - the cauliflower had a smoky flavor that worked beautifully with the gravy. Aloo Choley (chick peas and pototoes) we ordered mildly spiced which left our mouths with a warm subtle heat. All the flavors were delicious, and the kitchen really knows how to prepare delectable, fresh, curries. Just what you want from... More

Fast service, efficient carryout, tasty food. It's not always the warmest atmosphere but we go back again and again.

Ambar is reliable, reasonably priced and has a large menu of Indian staples. There's a buffet at lunch. Service is excellent and Ambar's saag paneer is the best I've had in Cincinnati.

Ambar is consistent: very good food and attentive, smart service. We have lots of ethnic cafes in our university-fringe neighborhood. We probably choose Ambar more than all of the others combined. Basically North Indian cooking; tasty but not hot-spicey with the exception of vindaloo. That's supposed to be hot. Order regular unless you really want hot.

We visited on a Saturday night and the place seemed really busy, which is always a good sign. We ordered Chicken Jal Frezi, Lamb Do Piazi chappatti, rice and saag alloo, which was all OK. Not exactly bursting with the amazing spices and flavors of India, a bit boring but still edible. The restuarant itself was slightly scruffy and untidy,... More

Visited Ambar for the first time. Found the menu to be extensive, plus it offered a long list of vegetarian entrees. I tried the Lamb Curry on a spice level 2 of 6. Found it had a mild curry flavor without heat. Lamb was tender. The rice it came with was good. Also tried the garlic naan bread, and it... More

We had a great meal!! Food was excellent, young man who was our server very friendly and helpful. Chicken Dal , Samosas (veggie and meat) , Chicken Tikka were well cooked and seasoned perfectly. There were two children in our party who are now Indian food fanatics who keep asking when can we go back. The entrance to the parking... More

Even though I cannot tell the different between the level of spiciness (because I felt the same between 0 and 5), I still like it. The taste was really good and you could have either rice or roti to eat with curry. Just talking about it, I can smell the curry now...
